Miley Cyrus aka Hannah Montana, 15 years old, posed for Annie Lebowitz for Vanity Fair shoot. The photos were rather seductive for a "squeaky clean teen idol" and she's getting backlash from parents. She now says she's embarrassed by them and the article. Everyone's having a go at her. I've since learned that one of the photos is of her and her dad, Billy Ray, and she's clothed so obviously the parents were there as well.
Now, I quite like Lebowitz' work and from what I've seen of Miss Cyrus I don't think she was forced in to doing anything and I doubt she's emabrrassed by them. She got undressed, she knew they would be published, she should have spoken up BEFORE they were published. And it's not like it was for Playboy, it's for Vanity Fair! gah! Now, obviously we shouldn't be shooting 15 year olds topless anyway but there must have been reasons for it and they would have been stated. Just silly, really.
Ah, those photos. I saw them yesterday and they're quite nice (though the one with her dad is kinda saucy, you know these southern types...). But considering that her dad is also her manager he was most definitely present (as evidence shows) and approved if not arranged it himself.
Given what all the 13 yr old fashion models wear (or don't more to the point) on the catwalk I'm somewhat irked by the fuss. Stupid parents...when they stop dressing their kids in crop tops and hipsters then they can complain.
Yeah. What's more, they buy clothes for their teens made by the brand name of said offender. Oh, I'll go and buy my child this Hannah Montana top and skirt, or this Olsen twins outfit, and then I'll complain that the teenage girls I'm giving millions of dollars to is acting all grown up and is being told to be mature at a young age.
... That didn't really come out right, but I agree with you.
