Fandom and Character: Torchwood - Toshiko Sato
Prompt: Multiple
Title: Cheap Whiskey (20 Drabbles of Indulgence)
Rating: R
Warnings/Spoilers: character death, violence, some sexy bits, some porn, one bit of dubcon, adult situations, crack, crossovers. Spoilers through 'Exit Wounds'
Word Count: 2663

Fandom and Character: Torchwood - Toshiko Sato
Prompt: 1. brave
Title: I Don't Want to be the One
Rating: G
Warnings/Spoilers: NONE
Word Count: 146 of pure crack. I don't even know where this came from. (fusion with Mercedes Lackey's Heralds of Valdemar)

Toshiko wasn't the one supposed to be chosen. She pushed at the white Companion, gesturing at her best friend. Kirin's eyes were wide, as she looked at them. "No, her. You're supposed to choose her!"

After all, Kirin was the leader of their little band, the one who was fearless in the face of danger. Tosh liked to hide. She wasn't cut out to be a Herald, even if it seemed amazingly romantic to be going into battle in the name of the Queen. "Not me," she repeated.

But she was helpless for the blue eyes which bore into hers, nor the softly-amused voice filled with love that surrounded her brain. ::Oh, Chosen. Never fear, for I will always be with you.::

That was that. Toshiko was a Herald of Valdemar whether she wanted to be one or not.

Fandom and Character: Torchwood - Toshiko Sato
Prompt: 2. crossover
Title: It's The Same (Wherever You Go)
Rating: PG
Warnings/Spoilers: Violence? No spoilers.
Word Count: 148 of Tosh and Dee vs. a Cyberman (Battlestar Galactica '03)

C'mon, c'mon, Tosh thought desperately, as the metal giant continued stalking towards her and her companion.

"What the frak is that?"

"It's a Cyberman," Tosh said, coaxing one last build-up of power from her hand-held device. If this worked, she would be able to record another effective method of destroying a Cyberman (if, that was, she made it back to her own time and place--but that was a worry for another time).

The safety clicked off the gun Anastasia Dualla had been fiddling with. "Can I shoot it?"

Oddly, she almost sounded calm. The gauge on Tosh's device went into the red and she aimed it at the Cyberman, and fired. It jerked, flailing. "Now!"

Dee fired three shots, each of them finding a target on the Cyberman; it slowly collapsed, a horrible, grinding noise coming from it.

"Let's hope that's the last of them."

Fandom and Character: Torchwood - Toshiko Sato
Prompt: 3. dork
Title: Me and My Cinderella
Rating: PG? Kissing is involved.
Warnings/Spoilers: Kissing? Toshiko/Martha Jones.
Word Count: 149

Sometimes, Tosh thinks she's entirely too lucky for words. Even if she hadn't wanted to wear the ridiculously over-priced gowns, going undercover for Martha Jones had been worth it. Afterwards, curled against her on the sofa, she started second-guessing herself.

"This is all, I mean--"

"Don't be a dork," Martha mumbles, before turning that brilliant smile upon on Tosh. "You were brilliant."

"We were brilliant."

"Always." Leaning in, Martha kisses her. It's as natural as breathing, and Tosh revels in it. These are the things she does not regret about walking away from Torchwood.

"C'mon," whispers Martha, standing and holding out her hands, "Let's get that bed-rest the medic ordered."

Not even feeling the pain from her injuries, Tosh allows Martha to pull her up and down the hallway to their bedroom. Perhaps rest was ordered, but it will be a distant while before she's there.

Fandom and Character: Torchwood - Toshiko Sato
Prompt: 4. dream
Title: Stardust Galaxies
Rating: G/PG
Warnings/Spoilers: (bullying teens? idk)
Word Count: 123

"I want to live among the stars." She was fifteen years old, but Toshiko hadn't quite learned not to dream so loudly amongst her peers.

There was laughter, mocking and sharp, and more than one of them said something derogatory (just another stupid girl). But after time, she was left alone again. Fresher prey called to them from the other side of the room.

With care, Toshiko slipped over the window. Daylight or not, she knew the patterns of the galaxies far above, could map them against the grey cloud-covered sky. Inwardly, she dreamed. Flying among them, traveling from planet to planet, discovering cultures and histories--science marvels and science fiction.

One day, it would be possible, of that, she was certain.

-=-

Fandom and Character: Torchwood - Toshiko Sato
Prompt: 5. friendship
Title: Reflections
Rating: PG
Warnings/Spoilers: 'Greeks Bearing Gifts', 'Everything Changes', 'Cyberwoman'
Word Count: 136

Tosh would never tell her, but she bloody hates the way Gwen laughs. It's a stupid thing to have a grudge against, but it's there. The sound grates at her, even when she's included in the laughter. She wasn't, once upon a time, and perhaps that's why her irritation remains. Not as annoying as Ianto's habit of reminding them all of the horror of his girlfriend--Tosh wants to blame that all on him, but she knows better. There's a drawer in the morgue with Suzie Costello in it, and Tosh thinks that she never understood her and Ianto so much as the day she curled in her bed, the evils of the world pressing down against her head. Swirls of anger and rage, hatred and pettiness, and Mary's voice an island of hope and grace.

-=-

Fandom and Character: Torchwood - Toshiko Sato
Prompt: 6. fun
Title: Differing Opinions
Rating: G
Warnings/Spoilers: none
Word Count: 100

Languges with common factors, technology that looked dissimilar, but had the same function. Those were the sorts of things Tosh liked to consider, for fun. She knew that the others thought of her as a drab, not very fun person, and she cared. Of course she cared about their opinions, but when compared to the marvels that she could find in the archives, the alien technology that worked for her and no one else, she could stand a few ribald and rude remarks.

There was nothing more relaxing than discovering one more device that was for exploration rather than death.

-=-

Fandom and Character: Torchwood - Toshiko Sato
Prompt: 7. goodbye
Title: i want to reconcile the violence in your heart
Rating: PG
Warnings/Spoilers: post-apocalyptic fusion of the Tank Girl movie. Character death.
Word Count: 100

It was surreal. She wasn't going to cry, Tosh swore to herself as she stood on the lip of the sand dune, and watched as Water and Power ripped through the makeshift house that Torchwood had salvaged from the wreck of the world. They hadn't been able to stop the asteroid, they'd barely been able to survive.

Now her friends, her lover, her only family left--they were being destroyed. She couldn't say goodbye.

Not until all of the bastards paid for their crimes. Turning to her captor, she smiled.

Water and Power would burn, she would see to it.

-=-

Fandom and Character: Torchwood - Toshiko Sato
Prompt: 8. hands
Title: all of the boys and all of the girls
Rating: R
Warnings/Spoilers: Porn, Tosh/Martha
Word Count: 106

[Spoiler (click to open)]Martha's hands are what she noticed first. Well-shaped, strong, supple--Tosh couldn't help but think of them, stroking paths across her skin. Now, when Martha kisses a path from one breast to the other, tongue swirling over a nipple, her fingers are perfect.

"Deeper," Tosh moans, arching as Martha's hand presses against her, fingers pushing further into her.

Stroking, scratching, fucking, Martha's fingers tantalize and torment until Tosh is mindless with the need pulsing through her. When she comes at Martha's urging, it's too much sensation--but she doesn't tell her to stop, she simply grabs for her lover.

They ride the pleasure out together.

-=-

Fandom and Character: Torchwood - Toshiko Sato
Prompt: 9. hope
Title: I Want To Live Under the Sea
Rating: PG
Warnings/Spoilers: None, Farscape crossover
Word Count: 136

Being stranded in a distant corner of the universe wasn't Tosh's idea of a good time. But she was rolling with the punches as she learned to navigate the planet she'd ended up on. The language barrier hadn't taken long to crack, thanks to microbes she'd been injected with. The food situation was tolerable, and she'd managed to find work with a mechanic shop.

Still, it was a surprise to hear the familiar cadence of spoken English when a pair of Peacekeepers walked past her.

"I'm tellin' you, Aeryn," the man was saying, hands waving, "The thing was this big--"

With hope stirring in her, Tosh turned around and began following them. If he was as American as he sounded, he might not be of use, but he was here, and that made all the difference.

Fandom and Character: Torchwood - Toshiko Sato
Prompt: 10. passion
Title: We Call This Dancing
Rating: Rish
Warnings/Spoilers: kissing, adult situations, dubious consent, Tosh/Martha (idek, they're hot, ok)
Word Count: 150

[Spoiler (click to open)]It had been a Torchwood sort of day, so Toshiko wasn't really surprised when she ended up locked in a box with Martha. Something hissed, a gas flooding the room in seconds and she didn't even try to hold her breath.

"Some sort of poison?" Martha gasped, then coughed.

"Does it matter?" It wasn't that Tosh didn't care, she just didn't have anymore cares to give to a universe that seemed bent on destruction. Then again, she did care about how close Martha was--how naked she'd been that morning in Tosh's bed, with her careless after-sex sprawl tempting Tosh into getting in late.

She was kissing Martha before her brain could analyze the gas. Hallucinogen. Aphrodisiac. Martha kissed her back, just as passionately. Tosh tugged Martha's shirt free, skimming her fingers across Martha's belly and swallowing her low moan in triumph.

It was at that moment Gwen arrived.

Fandom and Character: Torchwood - Toshiko Sato
Prompt: 11. hungry
Title: Busy
Rating: PG
Warnings/Spoilers: 'Exit Wounds', nominally
Word Count: 123

They'd been on their feet for days, working to fix the damage to the Hub and Cardiff. Tosh wouldn't hear of not helping out, even if her gut ached when she didn't remember she was injured. The healing device Owen had used wouldn't fix all of the damage caused by the bullet, and he kept snapping at her to remember that and rest.

It wasn't the ache that really annoyed her, though. It was the hunger, when she'd stop and rest for a moment and realize that she hadn't managed to eat since the night before (a cup of coffee and cold toast). With her gut gnawing at her spine, she went in search of something other than the cold pizza Owen favored.

-=-

Fandom and Character: Torchwood - Toshiko Sato
Prompt: 12. quixotic
Title: Stuck
Rating: G
Warnings/Spoilers: None
Word Count: 150

Tosh had always wanted to run around with a sword and shield. Really. That was why she was mocking Ianto as he went on enthusiastically about how realistic it all was. "Next, you'll be suggesting we tilt at windmills."

It didn't come out quite as snide as she'd intended, and Ianto was a lot more thick-skinned than he'd once been. He sniffed. "If that's the way you're going to be about it, I'm not going to bring you along."

Since that would mean waiting in the cold and dark while Ianto foraged for food in the middle ages, Tosh wasn't too keen on it. She wasn't keen on getting spitted on a sword, either, but her choices were a bit limited these days. Not even the alien tech she'd had with her seemed to work properly.

With a sigh, she said, "I'm sorry. Can we go find food now?"

-=-

Fandom and Character: Torchwood - Toshiko Sato
Prompt: 13. confused
Title: Disembodied
Rating: PG
Warnings/Spoilers: language
Word Count: 150

"So what you're saying," Tosh says, one eyebrow raised as Gwen keeps one hand over her mouth where she is obviously trying not to laugh at Ianto and Owen, "is that you've switched bodies."

"I'm stuck in this wanker's corpse, Tosh," snipes Ianto's voice with Owen's personality. "Fucking do something about it."

"Hey!" Owen objects, frowning, "This isn't my fault."

"Of course it isn't, coffee-boy."

Gwen chokes on a laugh, then has to turn away before setting herself off. It would be more confusing, Tosh knew, if the device had switched all of them. Swallowing a sigh--and her own amusement--she reaches for it. "All right, but this might take a while."

"No, Tosh, not like that--"

But Ianto's warning from Owen's body is a little too late. Suddenly discovering herself across the room, staring at herself isn't really a shock. It's Torchwood, after all.

Gwen stops laughing..

-=-

Fandom and Character: Torchwood - Toshiko Sato
Prompt: 14. nostalgic
Title: This Photo of us (Don't Have a Price)
Rating: G
Warnings/Spoilers: None
Word Count: 150

Eighth birthday party. The photo wasn't faded, not yet, but Tosh scanned it in anyway. She didn't have stacks, like Gwen. No mis-matched albums stuffed with letters and flowers and silly poems. Just a few photos that she'd convinced Jack to retrieve for her from UNIT's archives.

There was something about the smiling little girl, one of her teeth missing and her gaze to one side of the camera.

Her father had been waving his hands, and her mother had berated him in amusement as the flash went off.

There had been cake and a microscope kit with slides. The sort of thing her mother hadn't been sure she wanted to approve of, but that Tosh had crowed over with happiness. Science had held her interest, even then, though biology had given way to computers and technology soon after.

With care, Tosh set the photo back into the box.

-=-

Fandom and Character: Torchwood - Toshiko Sato
Prompt: 15. lonely
Title: Turning Away
Rating: PG
Warnings/Spoilers: 'Exit Wounds' (MY HEART) ahem.
Word Count: 131

You can never tell them you're alive. Tosh refused to stand in the shadows and watch as Gwen, Jack and Ianto pick up their lives. That would be maudlin and over-painful. Something she might regret on the nights when she was alone in her new flat, working over the newest task set her by the corporation.

But survival, even at the cost of her friends, had been worth it. And there would have been no way to avoid Jack's curiosity, or Torchwood's mandates about personnel. She would have been studied, every atom of her body tested and scrutinized until she would have been nothing more than a lab rat. Being immortal was worth it, but barely just.

Perhaps her next life, she could spend with Adam, researching again.

(crossover with Highlander, nominally)

Fandom and Character: Torchwood - Toshiko Sato
Prompt: 16. Author's Choice (crossover with Leverage, sort of)
Title: Firewall
Rating: G
Warnings/Spoilers: None.
Word Count: 140

The intrusion had been subtle, but Tosh still noticed it. The hacker thought he was something, she could tell by the codes he used and the way he attempted to slip in and out of the Hub's systems. Oh no, he didn't, she reassured herself as she rapidly blocked him, then twisted the code he'd been using inside-out and sent it after him.

A few days later, the intrusion came again, blocking it was a little harder., but she managed to get a line back to the hacker's computer.

Hardison, Alec. Interesting. She began pulling notes on his activities and then quietly added him to the file of potential candidates in the event of her death.

Someone would need to keep the Hub up-to-date, after all, and she sure as hell didn't trust Jack to do it.

-=-

Fandom and Character: Torchwood - Toshiko Sato
Prompt: 17. Author's Choice
Title: Your Computer's a Spy
Rating: PG
Warnings/Spoilers: None, crossover with Person of Interest (nominally)
Word Count: 146

New York City. Tosh had heard all the descriptions, and knew it was supposed to be a towering edifice to some sort of gratification of man. But she was mostly interested in the traces she'd been following for the last few weeks. Little connections to the internet, security cameras accessed by outside sources, money transfers and monitored phone conversations. All minutiae in the greater scale of things.

But there was a hand-written number on a post-card in her laptop bag, and a name to go with it. And the sense that something was different about the world now. Jack had told her to consider it a vacation, Gwen had joked about coming along for the fun of it.

She didn't think either of them was right.

If Joss Carter had been an alien in hiding, it would have been a Torchwood thing, she supposed.

-=-

Fandom and Character: Torchwood - Toshiko Sato
Prompt: 18. Author's Choice
Title: In Desperation
Rating: PG
Warnings/Spoilers: None, might be considered very derivative of more than one episode of Spooks (it's also a crossover)
Word Count: 100

Ironically, it wasn't the first time Toshiko had been on the run from the government. But the last time, she'd been alone. The woman watching her back as she tried to hack into the cash machine was all hard edges and no excuses. She wasn't even sure she trusted Ros further than she could throw her, but they both had been investigating the same thing from different angles and when it all went pear-shaped, Tosh had thrown her lot in with Ros's people.

Nuclear bombs under London weren't really her field, but at least it wasn't another Cyberman invasion.

Fandom and Character: Torchwood - Toshiko Sato

Title: Accidental Radiation Leakage and the Attendant Consequences (Comicbook Style)
Rating: PG
Warnings/Spoilers: none
Word Count: 150

The telekinesis comes as a bit of a shock.

"Did you just--whoa!" Ianto jumps out of the way as the coffee mug Tosh had reached for, tilted its way towards him. "Uh, Tosh?"

"I'm not--I'm new at this," she says, even as she finally gets a firmer grip on the mug. The coffee's all spilled everywhere, of course. Mostly on the floor, but she's still annoyed. Coffee was vital, if she was going to understand what the hell was going on with her.

"Has anyone seen Jack?" Calls Owen from autopsy. "I've just discovered I can bloody walk through walls."

"Y'can't see him." Gwen's eyes are unfocused as she tilts her head, turning it a little, then nodding. She's not used to her telepathy yet. "He's gone invisible again."

Really, Tosh decides, as Ianto threatens to set Jack on fire with his mind, it could have been worse.

Fandom and Character: Torchwood - Toshiko Sato
Prompt: 20. Author's Choice
Title: The Living Dead Fill Every Room
Rating: PG
Warnings/Spoilers: Violence
Word Count: 129

Tosh hadn't asked for zombies, but Owen brought them for her birthday anyway. "Really, you shouldn't have," she shouted across the Hub as Gwen beat one of them off her work-station with the baseball bat Ianto had given her before disappearing to find more ammunition for the shotguns.

"I didn't think it would work! Fuck!" Owen shouted back, desperately trying to avoid being damaged, as the zombies he'd called surged towards him like ducklings hunting their mother.

"Of course you didn't, you bloody idiot! Shit!"

Tosh didn't see a point in joining Gwen in her recriminations. Her breath was better saved for trying to work out a way to reverse whatever it was Owen had done. She just hoped she could, before Jack woke up as a
zombie.
