Catching up on slightly older tv: Haven s2 and the last half of Nine Lives of Chloe King

Haven:
I hadn't bothered to watch after they fridged Evi. But I had nothing else to watch, so I did. I can't really say I felt... surprised by anything. I wish the show could manage to have more than one woman, but I expect that it must be hard for them to sell sf/f tv with fewer men these days. (seriously, there's barely any women now. Good job alienating me further, show)

And then the end: Audrey gets kidnapped and the men fight over her. Wow. I feel really interested in what happens next.

Chloe King:

HOLY FUCK WHAT WAS THAT ENDING. Fuck you, abc family for canceling it.

No, I mean, SERIOUSLY. I was so not expecting them to kill Brian (I LIKED HIM), especially not in a cutesy, cheesy, teen drama type thing. Not that I actually think the show was that?

But it is incredibly frustrating that they canceled it, because there's so much I wanted to see explored--what the Uniter is, why the Order wants her DEAD DEAD DEAD. What really happened to Brian's mother, and why his father blames the Mai (when I'm pretty sure the Order had her killed!)

How long have they been plotting for the Uniter's arrival, and what other twists and plots are out there--

And, also, what revenge Zane was enacting upon Jasmine and her mother? Did they steal Alek?

I am unsurprised, but disappointed, that Jasmine's boyfriend was a bad guy. It felt like a setup, though. But she has such a gorgeous smile! Sigh.

My guess for the next season would have been Jasmine learning her mother's role, Alek running off with his 'brother', and something with Chloe's mom and Brian's dad. (ALSO OMG HELLO SURPRISE CRISTIAN DE LA FUENTE--first Audrey, now Chloe's mom. YOU GET AROUND. And are hot. srsly. I am sad that you were gone by the end)

Basically, I'm really sad there won't be more. Because a female super-hero who wasn't always whining about having a Real Life AND was basically like "MY POWERS ARE SO COOL" was nice. There aren't exactly a lot of those.

It was nice to have a show where 50% of the major relationships were between mothers and daughters and women. Most shows like mother-son stuff (my second thing of dislike about Once Upon a Time), father-son or father-daughter stuff. Mother-daughter relationships are usually relegated to the dustbin as being uninteresting.

still bitter over eastwick, sff:haven, sff:9livesofchloe
