First off, let me say that even a quick jaunt into the LJ Haven fandom makes me want to stab my eyes out.
I mean, FOR FUCK'S SAKE. I should not read a comment from someone that says "Audrey is only not a whore because she has ~feelings~ for Brody". Wow. THANK YOU FOR BEING AN ASSHOLE. Remember, ladies, if you're going to have sex, you must only do it with men you have Deep Feelings for, otherwise, you're nothing but a cheap whore who can't keep her legs together.
Ahem.
On to the actual episode, which, while it was predictable, was also sort of enjoyable.
I like how easy and adorable Chris and Audrey are, and I should really write a huge amount of porn for them, or something. I'm not so fond of Audrey not being able to explain things to him--he's from Haven, Audrey, I'm pretty sure if you say "someone's troubled and we're all re-living the same day over again and again" he'll go "right. You're crazy, but what do I need to do?"
For god's sake, Audrey, you're both adults. If you don't think he can handle it, why'd you sleep with him in the first place (and he CAN handle it, witness the killer plants stuff!). I find this sort of thing entirely frustrating.
At least she got laid once. I can try to focus on that.
Now, on the whole ending. Audrey has never lost a case like this. The man killed himself to stop it all, and Audrey was powerless to do anything. She's lost people before, but it's never been so much of a direct result from her interference like this. And that's rattled her confidence (ok, I think it's shattered it a little).
I also think a very small part of Audrey believes this was the only way to stop the time loops and she's glad and that makes her feel even guiltier.
Her life is insane; this is the same choice Nathan made last season, when he tried to get rid of Jess. Chris is a normal guy, he has no business getting wrapped up in Audrey's crazy life-style (Nathan's a cop and troubled, he never had a choice; Duke's been sticking his nose in and mucking about all on his own. Chris? Audrey would be responsible for him becoming involved and possibly dying). And now? Audrey's realized that she cannot protect him. He DIED saving her, and that rattled her as much as whatsisface killing himself. I think it's the wrong choice for Audrey to make: I think not letting Chris make the choice himself is rather childish (though it's fascinating to see the gender-swap of the power dynamics here. Ten sent Rose away to be safe. Audrey's sending Chris away to be safe. Neither of them are right to do it without asking).
I do think she and Chris had excellent chemistry, and I would love for him to come back. Sadly, I suspect he won't (mostly because I think the show plans to end it with Audrey/Nathan as the True Love Epic, though I can hope not).
As for other bits of the episode: I loved Audrey hugging Duke after he died. <3
And, um, jesus, Duke and Nathan really just need to get a room. Seriously. I hope the show actually ends up that way, with the two of them admitting they were boyfriends at one point and had a nasty split.
As long as Evi gets to watch.
Speaking of Evidence Crocker, WHERE WAS SHE, show? I know, I know, this was very much an Audrey-focused episode, but it would have been nice to see her. sigh. (also, Duke doing payroll is hilarious)
