Spoilers up through the season finale of season one. Also, the webisodes.
1. I now know why people were so disappointed in the series after the webisodes. The webisodes are action-packed with lots of stuff going on that revolves around Helen and Ashley (sidenote: no lie, I assumed Druitt confessed to Ashley during the pilot, so I was weirded out when he did it again in The Five). The series, otoh, revolves around Will and how Special He Is and how he's Helen's Protege.
2. There is also no boring-ass Cabal of Doom in them, though the Cabal is mentioned in passing at one point.
3. So. The season finale. Um. I enjoyed the puzzle, I enjoyed the whole quest for teh speshul blud of dm. Or whatever. But it was so very obviously what the Cabal wanted them to do. I mean, rly? RLY? None of you thought, "hm, mebbe they want us to find this shit for them, since they can't do it." Especially as Tesla had been working with them.
4. That said, how lucky for them that Ashley is a hot-head and walked right into their trap! So now she can be evol. laike her daddy.
5. I really enjoyed the five getting back together, and their quest, although the puzzles were, um, a wee bit simplistic? Meh. Idk, I was just like "...that's it? I saw this episode of Stargate..." (well, ok, the whole concept of 'daddy stored the speshul blud here' was also sort of annoying)
6. unfortunately, the cabal is like the world's worst and most boring version of an X-Files Conspiracy ever (you have to understand. I fucking hated the conspiracy shit, it's why I stopped watching XF in season three). And the redheaded woman is bland and obnoxious. Sort of like Will.
7. I really. REALLY. don't like Will. webisodes! Will was slightly better, because he was not OMG SO SPESHUL HELEN USED TO STALK HIM. Also, I think he was snarkier. He was definitely less bland.
8. The webisode version of Fata Morgana pretty much makes the broadcast version look like a hack job, sadly. The broadcast version is very... "these evil women will be redeemed by this man's penis brain" whereas, the webisode version is "these women were made evil by a penis and could recover their lives on their own. There's an incidental penis involved in their discovering the brainwashing" ALSO.
9. The webisode version has Ashley being bored and stalking vampires and invisible demons. Because she's pissed. Also? She really enjoys killing things, and makes no apologies for it (she also looks more like she's twelve in the webisodes)
10. Episodes:
a. The Folding Man episode was an awesome concept, pity Will was boring and did a lot of talking and ruined it.
b. Kush killed the token black man (great job, show!) and left Will alive (sucks to be me).
c. Nubbins cracked my shit up, and made me want to ship Ashley/Henry.
d. The Five had SO MUCH TALKING and then Tesla was stereotypically underwhelming and boring as soon as he went all "I vant to rule teh vorld" (it was way more interesting if the Cabal was after Helen, tbh. Also, another dead black man! Awesome!).
e. Edward was, um... it was, like, the Sanctuary equivalent of 'Random Shoes' and was vaguely interesting in concept.
f. Requiem. EVERYONE DIES until Will shoots the Master snake (now we know what happened after Eric Roberts bought it) when it's frozen (if it's in pieces and melts, won't it get back together?). I liked the tension in the episode, and I like that Helen was all about the Skience. She is awesome, bb.
g. Warriors. I refused to watch this episode after two minutes. NO MORE FIGHT CLUB EPISODES, TV WRITERS. They all fucking suck.
h. Instinct. OH HAI TORY. She really was the best thing about this episode, even if she was sort of a stereotypically annoying screamy reporter. She needs to come back.
i. Revelations. I've talked about it above. I didn't hate it, I mostly enjoyed it, but if the Cabal would just fucking go away, I'd be a lot happier. OMG A WAR IS COMING, MAGNETO IS READY.
11. I do actually like this show when it isn't all "we are save the world from consprscy" and is more about the things they find. Also. Helen being adorable and happy whilst autopsying. MORE OF THAT, SHOW. MORE OF THAT.
12. I actually don't mind Henry's tortured past/secret all that much. Mostly because Henry still = better than Will.
13. Druitt sort of grew on me, possibly in direct proportion to how my dislike to Tesla grew once he was a bad guy. However, I liked Tesla, Druitt, Watson and Griffin's granddaughter (even if I want to know why she never changed out of that hideous skirt) all right.
14. Half-naked Henry and boxer-clad Will was a nice change, even if Clara was also completely naked, like, twice.
I think that's everything.
