Congratulations, Twin Peaks

You've managed to do the one thing not even Forensic Files (and I've seen enough of FF that we routinely delete EVERY SINGLE ONE from the dvr and can fucking tell you the cases in their entirety) has ever managed to do: make me feel like puking.

One of the fingernail scenes?

No. The utterly pointless near-rape and brutal "dancing and humping" murder scene of Maddie.

Eurgh, I'm not up to that yet in my rewatch. I remember it from last time, though, and how it was played as something close to laughs.

I didn't get the impression that it was played for laughs, but lasted way too long. I think we were supposed to be thinking how it probably seemed to be an eternity for Maddie, but was probably only a few moments, but it made it more gratuitous than anything else.

I'm sorry for the lack of warning, but I was only half watching and this is a scene that I sort of fast forward through every time, so I forget how bad it is.

To be honest, that one scene has pretty much made me loathe the entire show. It was so very pointless, not to mention so totally unneeded.

The overly-long "isn't it awesome how Leland (I'm sorry, Bob, since Leland never has to take responsibility for being a murdering asshole because this is all supernatural, see) is humping the half-unconscious body of his niece. Stupid bitch dared to say she was going to leave, and got what was coming to her" scene.

I will gleefully poke you later, yes. Or eventually just post a roundup of Thoughts on Twin Peaks.

Why don't you just reprogram the DVR not to pick up Forensic Files any more?

Reply

lyssie August 26 2009, 00:52:12 UTC
....Because sometimes we catch ones we haven't seen.

Okay. It's just my DVR can be programmed to distinguish between firstruns and reruns.* Unless you're referring to reruns you haven't seen, then nevermind.
* As long as the party programming the listings at the cable company marks things correctly. Some sod cost us both the Ashes to Ashes season finale and the Primeval series finale.

Yeah. ours is sort of special in that it won't record any unless we make it record all first-run reruns. And even then, sometimes, it stops recording episodes randomly.
