sff: The It Must Be Time for Skiffy Guest Stars Edition

NCIS: I... y'know. Jen is love. She just is. Also? Women continue to rule, on this show.
Bones: Damn. Can we have Caroline or Stephen Fry back, please?

Also, as a side-note, I caught a commercial for the sleep number mattresses, with Lindsey Wagner from the original Bionic Woman hawking them, which made me giggle madly, because, well, in an interview I just read, Katee said she'd love to sleep in her [Lindsey's] bed--which. Dammit, Sackhoff, stop giving me RPF lines! (seriously. At the con, she said, we were all welcome to grope Lucy Lawless inappropriately...)

Er, anyway.

NCIS.
Let me get this off my chest, first. I love Jen Shepard. I love her a lot. Her shutting down of the Captain, when he kept trying to throw his weight around, to get info on the investigation? Hot. Awesome. The sort of thing a good commander or director of NCIS DOES. She was completely and utterly in charge. *happy sigh*

She also dealt well with the complaints for Gibbs' 'style' well--because, in some ways, she can't stop Gibbs being Gibbs, and he GETS RESULTS. And the bad guy, and that goes a hell of a long way more than politeness.

Which brings me to, um, god. I'm sorry, I don't remember her name, but she was the intell officer that was working with our murder victim. Now, here's the thing. They made her a germophobe and gave her a set of quirks, and let the team mock her and everything and--

She could have been a boy. She could have been a girl. Gender did not matter in their treatment of her (except with Tony, and that's not even really an issue).

And that right there? That's equality. When a character's gender is of less interest than their personality, quirks and skills at doing their job--

Whether this trend continues, I don't know.

As an aside, you can all believe I shrieked when I realized deadman's wife was Mo' from Painkiller Jane as a blonde. Heheh.

Anyway, onto Bones which was...

--Wait. I totally forgot Abby. Because Abby is, as always, fucking awesome. And I loved that she went on that dinner to eat at the Ritz and, and--seriously, guys, the women in this show are so fucking awesome. And I love that Abby's been courted by other labs for YEARS, and she still stays at NCIS.

--er, Bones, anyway.

Huh. It's weird, but I'm not sure what I thought of it. I know it was terribly ironically sad, in the end, and I know there were gross bits, but...

I do love this show, and the women are all damned strong. I think I'm just overwhelmed with my love for Jen Shepard...

Though, the new psych has to go, man. He's annoying.

As mentioned, this was the night for SF guest stars. NCIS had Maureen Bowers from Painkiller Jane, and Bones had Tasha Yar from Star Trek: the Next Generation.

I think maybe I was disappointed that I'd figured out who did it--both of the its--pretty early on. Hrm. I'm not sure why I thought it, even, at the time.

Next week, otoh, looks AWESOME. WONDER WOMAN FOR THE WIN.
