Gah... that was awesome. I love that you wrote the confrontation between Leoben and Sam, and how it was all over Kara and what was to become the best day of Sam's life... and it was just perfect, because she's so important to them both and it's just...

yeah. Words fail me.

Thank you =)

I didn't mean to make it All About Kara, but it seemed to work, and thus, it was.

I wish I could say something more coherent. I very much love the wedding day section and the mom and dad backstory.

impressive stuff. My favourite line in this is Sam realising he's his mother, and Kara is his father but being unable to do anything about it.

Thank you =)

That came about because when her 'cheating' first came to light, I swore he'd married her knowing she'd do it, and if so, he had to've grown up assuming it was normal, in some way.

Found this linked on a friend's del.icio.us page--I'm not sure how I missed it before. I love this, the idea of Sam accepting Kara's infidelity because it's repeating the dynamic (with roles reversed) of his parents' marriage, the hints about Kara from Leoben, Sam turning to piloting (and Seelix) as a way to forget... Wonderful!

I had a long discussion with lizardbeth_j about whether that would work as some of Sam's backstory. Which mostly boiled down to me thinking it would work, and her disagreeing and then us getting distracted by cylons-torturing-Sam. Or something.

But. Er, if I have to have the infidelity canon (and it's... technically only Lee, until they show us Kara sleeping with men on New Caprica), then I don't mind having a basis for allowing it and staying, on Sam's side. Not to mention, if he really went into their marriage knowing she'd cheat, what kind of marriage did his parents have?

...sorry. I'll be silent now. *g*

here via a rec at crack_van. I really love this... it's a fantastic portrait of Sam, both with and without Kara. The Leoben parts are excellent, but my favourite bit is the backstory on his family. It's a great explanation for some of what he does (or puts up with), and I like his realisation that he's become like his mother, and now he knows why she stayed. I mean, who *wouldn't* stay with Kara? I can very much see this being true.

Yeah, I still don't know if I think it works or not (as mentioned above, there was a discussion about it with Lizbeth, where she disagreed with me).

The thing is, I just... I can't imagine a normal guy, who'd grown up with parents in a happy, stable marriage putting up with Kara's sleeping around.

Eh. I suppose it can go either way.
