Work Update
For any who happen to care, this is the work update that I alluded to but didn't actually mention.
Kelly? Is gone. She left the store (giving less than 2 weeks' notice I might add) for a completely different job. What this means is that we don't have a Store Manager right now and we won't be getting one until after the Holidays, because the chick Oneika wants to move in has apparently only been with the company for one Christmas. I could go into greater detaila bout how Oneika should just give the store to Jannine (who will be running the place in the interim anyway) but I won't.
What this basically means is that Jannine is sort of the 'go to' for things and though it's not official official, she's our acting store manager. So the management team right now is Michelle in music, Austin in Receiving, Lloyd, myself and Jessica who is our 'temporary' ASM who is technically a department manager. Yanira is still out on maternity and we don't know yet if she's coming back or not.
What's kind of neat is that since I'm sort of Jannine's wingman anyway, this means I'm sort of like... not promoted in any official way, but she's giving me more stuff to do - which should sound mean but isn't at all. Unlike Kelly, she actually trusts me to handle tasks and also to take care of shit when she's not here to do it. We're going to be getting a temporary keyholder from another store and Oneika, Barbara (SM from Holmdel) and some other SM will be stopping in 'at least once a week' to see if there's anything we need.
I'm not really worried about the holiday, because we've all been through it for a while now and we're really in good shape.
Also! In looking at my paid time off that I have yet to take? It turns out that Kelly apparently never put in one of the vacation weeks that I took - and since Kelly's gone now? BONUS VACATION FOR LYSSA! Assuming Jannie's cool with it, at least. (Which she should be since she gets to do exactly the same thing.) So I've got 2 weeks of vacation and 2 personal days that expire at the end of January. VACATION FOR LYSSA! I'm going to see if Jannine wants me to split it up and take one week in October and the other in January, or if she'd let me take 2 weeks together in January as a sort of post-holiday decompression. (Sadly, being hourly means I don't get comp days anymore, so I won't get bonus days to add to that.)
Either way? CANADA, BABY!!
