Eric and I felt our first earthquake last night at 8:05 pm: a 5.6, deemed a "moderate" earthquake, with an epicenter about 9 miles east of here. At first we thought our upstairs neighbors were just walking around more loudly than they usually do (their usual being like a herd of elephants), but then it continued, moving into the walls and the foundation of the building. Everything shook for a bit, and slowed down to a slight sway before stopping completely. By that time Eric was already looking up earthquake websites and we were being fascinated with the idea that we had just experienced our first quake. Overall, quite freaky.
