Because I got turned down for the OIE position. When I went in, it was freaking crazy, because they were having all applicants make a model poster of what they would do for an event, right? And they also had their interviews staggered. So, I got in there just as one woman was finishing her poster, used the same freaking computer to work on mine, another guy came in and worked on the computer next to me, and another woman came in and worked on yet a third computer. And those were just the ones that were staggered next to me, chronologically.
XP They did say that they had a lot of very strong applicants, and that it was a hard decision, to choose between them. And I know my poster was damned good, and creative, and that they have previous experience working with me (good, in terms of personality, bad, because they know me as being tardy or absent much of the time - 'cause last semester was a fluke). That being said, I still dislike the sting of failure, the sadness of rejection. Earlier I had this pit in my stomach, like I wasn't going to get it...
Still, I looked at the Job Board on campus today, and found three new jobs to apply for - in addition to applying at Braum's (long walk, though), and the one I already applied for in Career Services, whose interviews should be starting up on Monday of next week. So I'm doing well...but feel kinda sucky momentarily.
This might work out better for me. One of those other jobs is a position working in the cafeteria on campus, and it would give me more hours per week, and higher wage per hour. *o* So even though it'd be kind-of a shit job, I'd be getting...*calculates frantically with her not-so-mad math skills* HA! Okay, now I'm not sad at all. With the OIE job, I'd make $88.50 per week. With the cafeteria job, I'd make between $123 and $184.50 per week. *o* *crosses fingers for getting cafeteria job*
Otherwise, I had a freaking awesome Arabic class, which was only dampened by receiving that rejection email afterwards. Anyway, enough dithering for one day. Time to eat and relax, then work on homework.
Hope you're all doing well,
Love, Lyssa
