I wish the younger generation could bring it back, but we're just so spread out now that it's mostly impossible

Your Thanksgiving memories are wonderful! Despite it nominally being about the food - it's really the people that make it special, because the people make the traditions.

I'm so sorry that your family Thanksgiving didn't survive the loss of your Papa in the same way.

You need to start building your own version of Thanksgiving tradition - you can bring some of the old traditions, and add new ones. It won't spring up fully-formed immediately - and it won't be the same as the past - but it will be yours.

I try to bring some of it to my Thanksgiving at J's mom's when we're not traveling. I try to make the few recipes of Nana's I can successfully make like noodle pudding, apple sauce, and latkes
