Early in the morning, and not having any sleep at all to get ready for the longest flight yet that I’ve been on, we left our home and I feel empty when we were about 20 min. on the road. I forgot to say goodbye to our dogs, sheesh, still I’m regretting now.
We arrived early in the airport, too early. Good thing was we were first on the line for check-in. Waited for a while and saw Marie Digby. We were not sure if she was really her, then we stared at her, and we thought it really looks like here. Wow! She was really pretty. Then we also saw the JRU basketball team.
Okay, when we were able to check-in, we went straight to the waiting area just adoring the Duty Free area; I call this “The Luxury Area”. Everything’s just too expensive (for me though).
So we waited for the airline to start boarding but we were delayed for 2 hours. There were technical problems on the plane that needs to be fixed. But they gave us food though due to the delay. We were able to get on the plane on 2:45 in the afternoon which was supposed to be 12:45. We have to travel for one and a half hour to reach Taiwan. It was a pretty place. They’re really nature friendly. But I was not able to sense Taiwan air (LOL) due to the delay. So we went straight to our next flight. We just waited for about five minutes before the next plane started boarding passengers.
This is our last plane, and it was estimated that our travel will be about more than 14 hours. It’s not my first time to ride a plane, but this was my first time ever to be on a plane for more than 8 hours. It was a long flight, and the plane had TVs on each chair so that passengers would be able to watch movies, concerts, play games, etc. (and it was a touch screen TV, so cool!)
Later, when we reached Japan area I think? We encountered what they call air pocket, where the plane shakes due to strong winds. It lasted for about a minute or two, and I was watching “Spy Next Door”, I felt dizzy coz’ the screen was moving and moving and I wanted to puke already. I turned off the TV for a while; I really didn’t feel well after the air pocket encounter. I closed my eyes and tried to concentrate but Mama kept on talking to me, then *blow*.
Anyway, after that, it’s still a long trip. We just slept the hours away. And when we arrived at Canada area, there’s still a bit of sun even though it’s about 9:00 in the evening already. We got out of the plane around 9:30pm but got out by 11:30pm.
Mommy Gwen was there to pick us up. Hugs and lots more of hugs. Then Daddy Rommel got the car and van to drive ourselves home as well as our luggage. It’s about 30 min. drive to get to Scarborough from the airport if I’m not mistaken. The weather was like Baguio. Cold but you can survive it.
Arrived home and my two younger cousins, Zia and Alec, were there to welcome us. Ate our dinner and chatted for hours. My Sister and I along with Mommy Gwen didn’t sleep. Well, for that day, didn’t get any sleep at all. I was awake for like 26 hours. Went to Scarborough Town Centre and got our SIN number from the Canadian Government office. Later that afternoon, I went along to Alec’s school, there was barbecue and kites to celebrate the day of the school’s patron saint, but my sister didn’t come, she slept already (so unfair but I'll try to post details about this event on another post).
And that was my first 24 hours in Canada; sleepless.
