Naational Day. Celebrate Nation not Government...

Jul 15, 2008 10:37

At last, found some time to write a little. National Day is around the corner and time to hang up the flag. No, no, dun get me wrong. I am not a supporter of our present government but that does not mean that I am not a patriot! Supporting the country is a totally separate issue from supporting the government.

Feeling rather broke these days. With so much bills to pay. I do these sort of tabulation every now and then to remind myself how broke I really am and how much life sucks for me financially...

- Car loan, $700/mth
- Petrol, $500/mth
- Car misc (Insurance, road tax, etc), $400/mth
- Town Council charges, $80/mth
- Handphone bills, $60/mth (took over my mum's bills)
- Fixed line bill, $30/mth
- Internet bill, $50/mth
- Singapore Powers bill, $150/mth
- Insurance bills, $700/mth (including my kids)
- Groceries, $500/mth (milk powder, diapers, food, yada yada)
- Parents' portion, $300/mth
- Public transport fees, $100/mth (yes, I DO take public transport...)
- Weekday food, $350/mth (breakfast, lunch, dinner, etc...)
- Weekend food, $300/mth (More restaurant based food)
- Medical Bills, $300/mth (I am a sick person...)
- 2 Nannies for my kids, $1200/mth ($600 each)

So, basically cover most areas I can think of at this point of time... Luckily, I do get to share the expenses with my wife... You think I really earn a lot??!! HAHA... Even if I do earn $5K, this is not sufficient... Sigh... Anyone wants to pay me about $6K take home (about $7K gross)? Hahaha...

That being said, I received more calls from headhunting firms recently and I may look at changing jobs. No discussion of pay yet but it will be with another MNC. Position is definitely regional. The role is different. More towards business development. Area cover will be bigger too. Korea, Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia, Taiwan, etc. Am I daring enough to take up the challenge if I am offered the job?

My girls are growing up. I can feel my age catching up too. Have been having even less sleep than usual. Dunno how to keep it up for long... But when I go back and see the girls (especially the older one who will give me a hug, maybe call me daddy then push me away and run off to play with her toys) I feel a sense of fulfillment. A sense where my daily struggles to make ends meet is more than just a job. It is a good responsibility and an achievement of the ultimate comfort.

For those of you who had seen her when she was just born, till now where she weighs 11kg, running and destroying things (we call her Unicron, as she devours everything in her path), this has been a long but short journey. Yes, go on. Admit it. You are getting old too... HAHAHA...
