I've got to get my sleep schedule under control

I didn't get to bed until 2 a.m. last night. I told myself I could still get up with 5 hours sleep, shower and drink a Red Bull, then make my 10 a.m. meeting with a smile on my face. I don't operate well on less than 8 hours, so this was crazily idealistic at the best of times.

Then my alarm didn't go off.

I woke up almost precisely 8 hours after I went to bed. There were calls from one of my business partners waiting ominiously on my voicemail. Rather than give myself 10 minutes to clear the sleep from my head I called him back and made a blathering ass out of myself.

*sigh*

Luckily, this wasn't a client meeting. Still, I feel like an incredible ass. I can't keep telling myself 5 hours, a spat of work, a two hour nap, then another round of work are a substitute for a solid night of sleep.
