foraging in the kitchen

I feel like some sort of hunter-gatherer. Minus the hunter part (but it doesn't make as much sense to say just gatherer). I wandered into the kitchen looking for food, and what I came up with were a handful of dried fruit, a couple almonds, a few grapes and strawberries, and a bit of salad. I guess the dried pineapple wasn't something a normal hunter-gatherer would happen across, but I did, and it was good stuff. Also, I didn't put my food on a plate or anything, just ate as I foraged, so maybe that adds to the uncivilized sporadic-feeding feeling.

It's gotten cold here again. This does nothing to lessen the Marron-cat's constant mewing to be let outside-in fact, it probably makes it worse, since I am less willing to let her out when it's this cold (lately, she's started meowing even when I'm on the other side of the house, nowhere near the door. you'd think we were mistreating her or something). I started growing some cat grass though! The sprouts are so cute, reaching up sooooo high from their bed of earth :D

Last night I took a nap around 8:15ish. I kinda dozed off and then I managed not to wake up again till 4am. Figuring it'd be pretty ridiculous to get up at 4, I went back to sleep and woke up at 8:30 this morning. So, I pretty much slept for 12 hours straight. Goodness. Yet another similarity to the hunter-gatherers, waking up and sleeping with the rising and setting of the sun (okay, 8:30 is a little late for sunrise, but I like my sleep)

A'ight, I'ma go doodle some pictures of squirrels and sparrows on my cave kitchen wall...

(oh, that "I'ma" reminded me of something I came across online once (and happily was easily able to relocate with a single google search!) about Michigan's accent and how it's designed to conserve energy (energy better put to use keeping you warm in this cold cold place!) by shaving off consonants and slurring together words. Hee hee hee.)
