drawins

Got 3 deadlines ahead and I'm procrastinating on all of them. Hurray! What's new?

But, I did some drawings today just for fun so here's those:
Fashion fun time with Lys!!♥

Not that I consider myself an expert on fashion or anything. I just do what I like! Most of my focus is on colours, and wearing many of them at once. Also, things like lace and frills and fluff. Also, random inspiration from other things I come across. (this fall, I noticed I have a lot of clothes reminiscent of autumnal trees...)

To start out with:

Once upon a time I had a messy room (this is true-it's actually relatively almost something like what you might consider "clean" at this particular instant in time). While trying to fold/put away clothes, I happened to pile these three shirts together. I thought the combination so lovely, I wore it the very next day. It's better in theory than practice, because the blue shirt is a button up and so it doesn't entirely work well as a bottom layer... but if I wore it as the top layer, people behind me wouldn't get to see the two different shades of yellow in combination!! That would be a pity.

Lindsey sewed me the most delightful Happy Berry (see Gokinjo Monogatari, Paradise Kiss) stuffed-mascot-thing one year for my birthday and I love it. This is what I wore today, actually, inspired by the happy colours. Two different lace skirts, and a lacy pink shirt too. Yum, lace :D

Getting into art theory here with my favourite pair of complementary colours, yellow and purple. I normally hate yellow, but I love this golden-version so much. This was also an attempt to stay warm by layering four shirts (the creamish fluffy thing is actually a shirt, not a skirt♥)

Ultimately, though, this is about how I end up looking every day. Because it is January, and Michigan, and Cold. An afghan blanket and a shawl, pink scarf I knitted myself and hat I did not crochet myself. Also bare feet, as you can see, because I don't always remember to do the sensible thing and put socks on my feet when they're cold...

Somehow, thinking of clothes and colours and layerings in this fashion makes me feel like I'd probably enjoy living in Heian-era Japan. Heh heh heh...

Anyway, here's some other stuff... silly stuff... doodly little Hidaka-manga fanart... drawn mostly for my own amusement, but posted just in case anyone else was curious... (and if you are, read my previous post!! :D :D)

My problem drawing these two is I normally draw short people (like myself, ha). So I try to draw tall people and it just doesn't happen. I'm sorry~!!!! I'll keep trying. (and I'm sorry also that Maki is hiding. it started out as just a sketch of Kazuha. eheh, you can see Ageha on the back side of the page if you look closely (or just scroll down and you can see the actual drawing))

But I love the way Hidaka-sensei uses phone conversations in her stories. Kazuha is just too cute!!! (and... I normally hate 90s fashion, but I think her sweater-dress and leggings outfit is really adorable)

Ahah, Ageha's just so pretty and fun to draw. The big drawing is the only one of all these that really uses "anime-eyes"... hmm. Are the characters still recognizable without them? (to the three of you who would actually know)

Coming up in the next couple days: really delicious orange granola recipe!! Look forward to it!

Also, today's my half-birthday!! Whee!
