week in review

It has been for me a week of lots of doing-stuff! Let's see... Tuesday I walked to the post office! to buy stamps and mail something (and stopped by the bookstore on the way back and browsed their children's books for like an hour or something). Wednesday morning I went to a friend's and helped her prep for a craft activity we were leading at church on Friday, and in the evening I was in the nursery at church, and before that I took the bus to a church family's place and played with their kids for an hour or so (the end goal was to not have to ride the bus and walk from the bus stop to church in the dark, since the sun sets so early now). Thursday I didn't do anything! but Friday I made up for it by making a batch of snickerdoodles (it made like 5 dozen cookies! fortunately small so I was able to fit quite a few on a cookie sheet-I managed to bake them all in three rounds) in the early afternoon and then going to church and spending a busybusy night crafting yarn angel dolls with kids. And Saturday I walked to an Artist Market at the local contemporary art center where a few of my friends from college were showing/selling stuff. That evening my aunt and uncle stopped by and then I went out with them and we had dinner and my aunt photographed Christmas lights around the city for her photography class.

Whew! But all the busy-ness put me in a generally happy mood-the streets are all lit up and decorated for the holidays, and I really enjoyed discovering in a more practical way how easy it is to get places using my own two feet-I got used to making the trek to the library before our internet was installed, and the post office is just a little farther beyond it, and the art museums are nearby, and the bookstore, and and and... So I'm feeling appreciative of the central location of the place I now live.

And then today was church and later I went with my friend to the senior high youth group meeting at church, and after that we stopped by JCPenny because she had a coupon and she bought luggage and I found the cuuuuuuuuuuutest sweater dress! Also white knit tights, which I intend to wear very often this winter. (I may also be thinking about the potential to dye white knit tights and so acquire hues not so easily found in regular stores...)

Also, on Saturday I got almost all caught up with my daily fashion posts!! Hooray! I am just now about to go post the last two days' drawings and then I will sit down to draw today's, and then I may read some Tokeino Hari manga or just go to sleep. Probably I ought to choose sleep, so I can get up on time tomorrow. Actually, maybe I should do my blog posts tomorrow morning and just focus on today's drawing tonight. That sounds good. Now that I have reasoned through my immediate-future plans, I will end this post.

Oh wait, I was going to tell a little story! Okay, real quick. Once upon a time soon after we moved in, we decided to take out the trash. But when we lifted the trash bag out of the trash can, we discovered the bottom was all eaten through and my brother vaguely noticed a dark blur leap out. Oh noooo, a mouse! We got some traps and my brother set them around the kitchen, but we never caught anything, and after a couple weeks we never saw anything either so I assumed they'd gone into deep hiding or moved away. But tonight I went to look for a snack and noticed! a mouse!! hanging out in a ziplock bag of peanuts!!!! There was an impossibly small looking hole it must've chewed and climbed in through. I grabbed the whole bag, with the warm, scurrying, quivering mousey still inside, and brought it outside, then opened the top of the bag and let it run away. I leave the rest of its fate to the weather/my cat/its own ability to find a safe hideaway. I do not like to have a mouse on the loose in my kitchen, but otherwise I thought it was a rather cute little fellow, so I wish it well...
