Recycling, revisiting, and rewinding?

This week has officially swung from good to suck to weird in my fannish pursuits. My three favorite reality shows that were running this week either had the right person win (Dancing With the Stars and American Idol) or the right person ejected due to being stupid (Top Chef). Asprin's death triggered the suck-o-meter. And today, I see that they're remaking Highlander. I'm praying that they do not pull Adrian Paul out of mothballs. Christopher Lambert has never been a brilliant actor, but Paul is only capable of filling a movie screen in an extreme close-up.

Dare I fantasize about Ewan MacGregor taking the lead? A Scotsman playing a Scotsman in a Highlander franchise. How novel a concept is that?
