My name is Patricia Vico and I'm here to arrest you.

University is majorly hindering my fangirly activities again. Although, it's not like someone forced me to take so many courses that my butt is already permanently falling asleep due to all the sitting.

But anyway.

Without a doubt, the main fangirly event of the week so far has been the premier of La Ira, otherwise known as "that miniseries with Patricia Vico wielding a gun and being a total badass". The first part was shown on Tuesday (the second and final one will air next week), and I nearly skipped my morning lectures the next day so that I could watch it. Nearly. Anyhow, the first part was AWESOME, but in a very grim and dark way.

So, La Ira. It certainly isn't everyone's cup of tea. I, personally, was quite surprised by the frank portrayal of violence and its gruesome results (dismembering bodies with lovely sound effects, anyone?). At the same time, however, the plot and the way the story is told are absolutely fantastic - I can't wait to see how everything will be resolved next week.

Patricia Vico plays Verónica, a detective assigned to the murder case. She spends most of the episode interrogating Marian Álvarez's character & practically oozing hotness. There's much more to her character, though, and Episode #2 will delve more into her past.

The following is purely a Patricia-Vico-is-totally-awesomesauce fest, because a) I don't want to give any of the plot away (it's brilliant, watch it!), and b) as I've said, the hotness factor was through the roof. I mean, damn.

Oh, and try & spot the total Maca-pose.

And next week...PATRICIA VICO SPORTING SUNGLASSES OF HOTNESS. Not to mention the LEATHER JACKET. *bliss*

I truly recommend this to anyone who understands at least a tad of Spanish and doesn't get queasy about blood. Seriously, La Ira is so worth checking out, and not only for Patricia Vico.

And just how many times can I type "Patricia Vico" in a single entry?

In another fandom related news, the new Girls Aloud DVD finally has a release date - it's been too long since I've seen the brilliance that is the intro to "Revolution in the Head". Oh, shush, you heathens!

As for the Criminal Minds promo for 5x01, it has way too much Hotch (yeah, yeah. Not surprising, but still) and ridiculously little Emily (the way she says "The Reaper" sounds odd for some reason). Then again, anything with JJ in kevlar carrying a gun around always wins in my book, so... September 23rd cannot come fast enough!

And, finally, something completely different: language geekiness! Linguists have such a wonderfully "up yours!" attitude at times. There's, for real, an official word in English that means "the fear of long words": hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia. Oh, the sweet, sweet irony. ♥
