I'd say she sticks.

Global warming, I officially hate your guts. This is not what December's supposed to look like.

Yet another reason to love Paget Brewster: "I'm like this wiry freak they pulled out of a bar two months ago and said, 'Let's throw it on the wall and see if it sticks'." (SPLICEDwire interview) I don't know why I find that absolutely hysterical ( Read more... )

JJ's afraid of the woods? Sugar! I don't know whether that helps my 'Emily and JJ being chase through the woods by a made psycho' fic or not. Damn.

My fondness for the old St. Trinian's films would have probably been enough to guarantee I saw the film but add that cast list and now there's no doubt. Looks like fun *g*.

'Emily and JJ being chased through the woods by a mad psycho' fic

That sounds almost too good to be true. I don't suppose we'd get to read it anytime soon...? *g*

My fondness for the old St. Trinian's films...

And this is where I confess my complete lack of knowledge on this issue: I had no idea there were other St. Trinian's films as well. I obviously need to brush up my movie history.

Nope, no time soon - it's going to be long, if it happens, and I won't post until it's finished.

As for St. Trinian's, there was a series of films back in the fifties/sixties, with Alastair Sim as the headmistress, plus George Cole and Joyce Grenfell among others. They really are an institution.

I obviously need to track down those films, for Alastair Sim if nothing else!

Oh, completely unrelated, but would you mind terribly if I asked you a language-related question? Is the word "muffler" (as in a long piece of cloth you wrap around your neck) used anymore in everyday language, or is it too old-fashioned?

Alastair Sim in a dress too.

I've never heard of muffler used in that context, so it's probably too old-fashioned (I think Americans use it to describe some part of a car as well).

"Muffler" was used as a synonym to "scarf" in one dictionary, and I began to doubt its accuracy. I only knew about it as the car part. But good to know it's not really used; I'll stick with "scarf".

Muffler is another name for scarf, but ralst is correct about it being antiquated. You would still hear the term ear muffs, though.

Yeah, I don't know what my dictionary's on about; I'd never even heard "muffler" used in that context before. But good thing I asked and not blindly trusted the dictionary.
