That's because science, at least the way it's taught in schools, is immensely boring usually. The teachers are usually so monotone.

I feel that way sometimes too. It's like creativity comes in periods and sometimes you're constantly thinking up cool things and then you have a period where nothing comes to you. I don't know if it's a lack of inspiring influences around you, your mood or state of mind, or what.
