Happy Birthday, Lady Day!
I haven't posted in a while, but the birth of Billie Holiday is enough to shake me into posting. What an amazing and heartbreaking talent. My first exposure to her was the saddest, her last album, Lady in Satin. You can hear the drugs and pain and despair in that album. It's practically running down her vocal chords. The album kills me. I got into the happier, jazzy side of Billie, what she is most known for, in college. Today's recommended downloads for those of you who don't know about this fantastic musical talent:
