(no subject)
So. I finished reading a book today. It was a beautiful book. It was all about how the Christian religion is often far more patriarchal then it was meant to be. The book was very feminist and also had a lot to do with the inequalities of the world because of sex and race. How women need to look inside themselves more to find their own love and power and whatnot…The book also went on to make it seem as if every deity to ever roam the earth had to have been an old, fat, black goddess of a woman. Which of course confirms my suspicions of Aretha Franklin, Billie Holiday, and Maya Angelou.
Anyways…being who I am I put down that book with a sense that someone else out there felt just the way that I do about things in this world….and you have that split second idea that this place is a better place to be…The kind of book that just makes you breath softer, and your heart beat calmer…
So I walk over to check my email…and this is what I get.
This is the most offensive/comical thing to happen to me in weeks….
A soliciting email…that reads…
Hey!
Long time no talk! I just had to email you and let you know
about how I found my future Christian husband. Yeah, you heard me
right, I'm engaged finally! I couldn't believe it myself either.
What happened was that Esther told me to go to this Christian
website, and lo and behold, they matched me with Michael. It turned
out to be the greatest thing to happen to me. I will pray that
the same happens to you too!
