Earlier today, Masaru and I encountered Xellos in Tetha. Nothing happened, really, beyond a brief discussion, though ( Read more... )

As far as planning anything goes, we have a distinct problem.

Anyone who knows anything of the Tetha Police force and who would have been inclined to work with us is dead.

Similarly, if I recall my intelligence briefings well enough, we do not have anyone who knows Xellos well enough to give us insight into his motivation.

Before we can do anything constructive, we will need to find some means of acquiring information on both the current state of affairs in the police force, and about what kind of things Xellos is motivated by.

Of course, we could act without that, but I'm no fan of flying blind.

...There goes that first idea. I was remembering about how Sonic's Uncle Chuck used to be a spy for us Freedom Fighters during the first war with Robotnik.

As for the second one... doesn't Commander Daimon's other daughter have some sort of connection to Xellos? I could have sworn I've seen some posts involving those two SOMEWHERE...

But, yeah... we're gonna hafta plan this out real well...

You're right. She, and her comrades... That's an avenue we need to loko into.

It's a start, certainly, but I can't help but think that Xellos would plan for such a contingency. It's an obvious first step...

Yes, I had considered that fact. But... we have to look at all possibilities, too. We don't have very MUCH to work with here at the start.

You could always ask him.

Ask ... Xellos?

...

Daigo, with all due respect, I know what he's going to answer with. As do many others.

I'm certain that you do.

I'm certain many people do.

Just as I'm certain that it's gotten to the point where it's no longer even considered a valid plan.

But with few options, one must think creatively. Outside of the box. If you were to simply ask him over the D-Comms, I imagine you would get the exact answer you're expecting.

But, should you act in an unexpected manner, you may get different results. Did anyone expect me to march into the Dark Area? Do you suppose anyone even considered a tamer doing such a thing to be a worthwhile possibility? And yet, I skyrocketed through their ranks.

"With all due respect", Commander, is a very interesting phrase... So few people actually act with what could be considered due respect to others. And yet, when they are treated with what they think to be their due, they often react differently than one might expect.

You know, I do like the way you think, Daigo.

It bears further thought, but I think I get an idea of where you're going with this.

Just doing my job, ma'am.

Agreed on all counts, and you raise a few good points. As Tails said, we can look into Lina Inverse and her comrades, at least, when it comes to Xellos.

Though, even then, that doesn't leave us with the capability to yet handle Ravemon.

I like to think that our options are so varied, but... we will need to think outside the box. I don't think that Xellos would have risen to his current position without some considerable forethought.

Indeed. Though, even if you deal with him, as I said... we still have Ravemon. And there's nothing stopping him from placing someone else in Xellos' position.

I actually prefer the thought of Ravemon, personally.

The power difference is overwhelming, but as far as planning against him, he's less of a wild card than his lieutenants. Given how things are going, it's not a difficult course to plot what he's seeking.

In general, anyway. It's the specifics that are elusive... An individual that reaches the top either strives to climb a new mountain, or is in position to put his or her ultimate plans into motion. Or, rarely, is content where they are and simply seek to cement their position.

That is true. Just because he's an Ultimate doesn't mean he's undefeatable, but it's just a matter of finding the right course so that we don't turn everyone else against us in the process.

But... you make very good points. Even with that, Ravemon is liable to be much more straightforward an adversary...

And yet... that still leaves us without a solid course of action.
