1. Hilshire, Gunslinger Girl. I love Gunslinger Girl to bits, and Hilshire is one of the reasons why. He's lost his innocence in trying to do the right thing, and it has brought him to the SWA. He and Triela have what is the most solid and healthy relationship in agency, as they do function as actual fratello, and he's not trying to twist Triela into some pseudo-replacement for someone she's not. JEAN AND JOSE, I AM LOOKING AT YOU. He's the most human of the handlers to me, and their partnership is interesting to watch.
2. Hilda, Eureka SeveN. Ah, poor Hilda. Almost completely left out of the last few episodes of Eureka SeveN. She's one of the most mature and stable members of the Gekko crew, serving as mecha pilot, quartermaster, and bemusedly putting up with Matthieu. Which is probably why she gets no love. In anime, the sane secondary characters don't get nearly the attention that the angst-ridden leads do.
3. Husk, Generation X. I have such a love-hate relationship with Paige Guthrie, I really do. Her OCD is so, so familiar, and I can empathize with the stress of wanting to be the best, but half the time I wanted to slap her silly.
4. Hob Gadling, Sandman. "To absent friends, lost loves, old gods, and the season of mists; and may each and every one of us always give the devil his due."
'Nuff Said.
5. Maes Hughes, Full Metal Alchemist. I don't advertise my FMA love often, because I never finished the anime. I can't. Once Hughes dies, I just don't care anymore. I still love Hawkeye, who is an "H" in her own right, but it's Hughes that I loved, and his death is one of the few sequences EVER, anime or live-action, to make me bawl like a baby.
