Delayed due to sleep deprivation, but I'm going to write up all three days!
The day started onna traaaaaaaain. I abducted Elaine and off we went, into Chicago! Train to Union Station, and then catching of buses back to my hotel so I could shower. There had been puppy kisses right before I left, and I needed to wash them off!
And off to the con we went! Saturday was a day full of panels for me - LOTS of library/academic panels - with a stop off to buy things from the lovely
rarelylynne and get her autograph. I AM A BIG DAMN LIBRARY HERO. MY BOOK SAYS SO. There was another encounter with Gail Simone, I pestered Jim Keefe for the art he owes me (because bugging Jim is fun), and I picked up a few trades. I will post pictures - eventually - of my new comics babies, but I want to get them all bagged and boarded first.
Then it was off to Chinatown because I desperately needed a Totoro bobblehead. Which, they were out of, but I got a keychain instead, and we picked up almond cookies and a big bag of fortune cookies. Then we went around the corner to the Phoenix for dinner, because it is my favoritest place in the world and I am in love with the tofu and seaweed soup, as well as the beef with seasonal veggies. Is it sad when the waitstaff recognizes you? I really hope not.
Back to the hotel, with horrible, horrible SyFy Original Horror Movies, where Elaine and I promptly proceeded to pose our new Lego Marvel people and take pictures which she sent to Len. Elaine is a horrible influence. My poor Kate Kane/Batwoman just threw up her hands in resignation at the antics.
And now, I must try to remember how to write an abstract, for submission to the 4th Annual Conference on Comics and Popular Arts, and do Day Three later. Gimmie a topic, people.
