9/11

Sep 11, 2006 09:44

To be honest I was not going to post anything today, nothing to really talk about, unless you wanted to hear me talk about football, which I doubt you want to. No email yet, i'm not really stressing about it right now.

Like I said, I was not going to post anything, nothing of significance has happened. But then I went on the internet and the first thing it asked me was:

"Where were you on 9/11?"

And then I remembered today was 9/11. I remember almost everything that happened that day. That's a day I will never forget, i've never felt so much anger and nervousness at the same time. This is what I remember about that day:

I remember...

1. Telling my mom at 8:15am that today was going to be a good day.
2. Sitting in Mrs. Jones class when of the kids said "yeah, they just hit the second tower!" I had no clue what he was talking about.
3. Sitting in my Accounting 2 class, and watching on CNN the video of the second plane hitting the towers.
4. My teacher receiving a call saying that a plane hit the Pentagon
5. A confirmation of another plan heading towards DC, possibly the Capitol
6. Going to abbreviated classes, not knowing what in the world is going on.
7. Sitting in Ms. Soraci's class as the radio played about the hits
8. Hearing all of the announcements over the loud speaker of parents grabbing their children early
9. Smelling smoke that came all the way from the Pentagon to our high school
10. Being the only one left in Ms. Soraci's class because my mom's boss wouldn't let my mom get off of work considering she works for the Fraternal Order of Police.
11. Ms. Soraci trying to divert attention by going over my first assignment with me, marking down so many red marks but gave me a 'B' on it.
12. Leaving school early and arriving at my cousin's house, glued to the TV, not wanting to watch anything else
13. Our president giving a speech about a terrorist act against our people, and that we will hunt these people down, the one and only time I rallied for our president.
14. Getting a call from my mom saying that my old babysitter's husband got killed at the Pentagon when the plane hit. RIP Robert Russell Sr.
15. Getting home, wondering what will happen next
16. Regretting saying that today was going to be a good day

Today to me is a day of mourn and reflection, 9/12 is a day of unification for the United States. I never felt so american in my life after that day, I never felt so proud to be an american.

I'm posting this while i'm at work because I am going to the gym after work and the 'skins game starts at 7:00pm, so I doubt i'll be back on later on today.

I'm leaving this post public.
