So long and thanks for all the fish...

We are on the road.  We made it to Spokane tonight.  To anyone I was supposed to see before I left my most profound apologies, time was just too short for me to see everyone that I wanted to.  There will be future visits and there's always the web.  I'm going to miss all of my friends in a crazy way.  Special thanks and much love go out to Mimi who ( Read more... )

If your route is taking you through Mitchell, SD, I can pass on a strong recommendation for a steak restaurant. It's probably not, but you never know. Take lots of pictures, it's a neat and weird drive.

We're going to Rushmore and Crazy Horse so we'll be in SD. No idea what cities yet, but suggest away!

So of course now I can't find where I saved it. But talking to the original person who recommended it to me, he's sure it's Marlin's, but I'm not sure whether it's Marlin's Family Restaurant (a small South Dakota chain) or - and this is more likely, not less, from his description of the location - Marlin's Roadhouse, here, which also has several other people saying good things. He says it's the best steak he's ever had.

If you're not going to Mitchell, and you see one of the other Marlin's Family Restaurants, tho', it could be them, and would still be worth a try. He really raved about the place.

What time did you finally get off? :) I'm glad to hear that Jasper is dealing well so far with the driving. I suspect after all the crazy he's probably just resigned himself to coping so long as he has his humans. ;)

Safe journey! Give Jasper pets and a kiss for me, since I didn't get to do that myself. I'm glad I was able to make this process a little less awful for you guys and keep you a little more sane. :)

Wonder no more! It was strange and in some ways still feels like just another road trip. It'll sink in when we hit Shreveport and all the working starts :-)
