I woke up about 1:30 in crazy pain in my upper abdominal area. I tried to sit very still for as long as I could, but by 2:30 I woke Joe up. I had a vague feeling that Joe could fix the problem but no real answer as to how. He immediately got dressed and asked if I was going to do the same or if I was going to the ER naked. I was confused and asked why we were going somewhere. At the bottom of the steps while heading to the car I threw up on the driveway. Joe went back inside for a bowl and we were off to the ER. We were just out of Bothell when for no apparent reason, the pain went entirely away. Joe wanted to go to the ER anyway and so we did. I have to say that I have never been in an ER and been seen so quickly. No sooner had the words "stomach pain" left my mouth than they were strapping a wrist band on me and taking me down the hall. They drew some blood and we waited in the room for an hour for it to be processed. I was ok, given that I was under warmed blankets on a bed, but poor Joe was sitting up next to me. The doc came back and said that my liver enzymes were elevated as was my white blood count. He gave me a prescription for antibiotics and percocet along with some orders to get an ultrasound this morning. They are thinking, I believe, that my gall bladder my be in bad shape and the ultrasound is to check for stones. So at ten this morning I will be back at Evergreen and getting a look at my innards.
