The Pro Club 20/20 Lifestyles program

Ok,so I've found a new use for my LJ. If you don't want to hear about my diet and exercise habits, you should stop reading now.

First, some information about why I'm doing this. I am 31 years old and I can't walk more than a short distance without experiencing a pretty severe amount of pain. My cholesterol is high and I am overweight by roughly 80 pounds. The 20/20 program is designed to both cleanse and strengthen the body. The first week of the diet portion of the program I was drinking 4 protein shakes per day, eating one tablespoon of natural peanut butter, eating (or drinking if I put them in the shakes) 2 cups of berries per day, and consuming 10 oz of lean meat (ie. fish, chicken, lean beef, etc.) In the second week vegetables were added in with the exception of the high carb veggies like potatoes and corn. In week three the veggies become unlimited and I will drop down to 3 shakes per day.

Notes on the diet. The shakes are actually tasty, which makes me happy since they are a significant portion of my food intake at this point. I haven't had a great amount of food cravings and in the first week I gave up coffee entirely and for the most part have not missed it. The only food that has been driving me crazy is that I want pancakes. I mean I REALLY WANT PANCAKES. I learned yesterday that there is a recipe which is totally within the limits of what foods I am allowed for pancakes. Will be trying that very soon. In addition to the meals I am taking 3 Omega 3 pills, 2 multi vitamins, 2 calcium tablets, and 1 tbsp of fiber per day. So far I feel fantastic.

On the exercise portion I work out five days per week. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I meet my personal trainer for an hour and a half of cardio, weight lifting, and core toning workout. Tuesday and Thursday I meet my physical therapist for an hour of working on strengthening the muscles in my hips. On Fridays I meet with a nutritionist to discuss my diet and how I'm feeling. Mondays I meet with a psychiatrist to discuss any emotional and/or mental issues pertaining to the diet. I am working under the close supervision of a physician at the pro club. On Fridays I also have one hour of pool therapy. During pool therapy I basically stretch, do strength exercises and then walk on an underwater treadmill for an hour. Very interesting setup there.

In all on this program I have roughly doubled my food intake for the average day, increased my physical activity level by huge amounts, and generally increased my feelings of well being and contentment. Additionally, I have lost 10 pounds in two weeks (this is expected to dramatically taper off really soon) and am hoping that for the remaining 30 weeks of the program I will lose roughly 2-3 pounds per week.
