Last week in a nutshell...

Nov 20, 2005 00:44

Monday: Met with the surgeon to arrange for the minor outpatient surgery I'm undergoing on Tues the 22.
Tuesday: Took my Compass test in preparation for registering for college.
Wednesday: Joe and I met with a lawyer to discuss our estate planning options.
Thursday: I registered for college and Joe and I fired our Merrill Lynch account manager.

More details!

Monday: Pretty much what I said above. I'm having a minor surgery performed on Tues. It isn't a big deal and I'd rather not discuss the details :-P

Tuesday: I went to Cascadia and took the placement test. Turns out I'm a math moron. Who knew?!

Wednesday: Our Merrill Lynch account manager hooked us up with a lawyer. The lawyer seems like a nice enough guy. We discussed our estate planning needs and went our separate ways. Around 5:30 Tuesday evening, our ML guy sent an email to the lawyer that was both unprofessional and terribly insulting to Joe and I. He unfortunately cc'd Joe on the email. Joe and I were justifiably upset. His email included both personal insults about Joe and I and background information about our account that was not only incorrect, but was private information even had it been true. Joe and I sat down and composed a letter to our previous ML guy, copied him on the email, and waited for Thursday morning.

Thursday: Joe found 4 recall attempts in his inbox. We heard back from our previous ML guy who said he would be happy to resume responsibility for our account and that he would be taking the email in question to the management. Shortly thereafter, our "current" ML guy called to grovel a bit. Unfortunately, it was pretty apparent that he was only groveling because he wanted to be able to go to his next meeting (the one where the decide whether he still works at ML) and tell them that he had spoken with us and all was forgiven. Needless to say, all was not forgiven. We never heard whether or not he got the axe, but honestly, I would be thrilled to find out he had. Once the ML stuff had all been dealt with Joe went to work and I went down to Kirkland to have blood drawn for a pre-surgery CBC. I went straight from the hospital to the college where I registered for my classes next term. I'm taking Sociology, Math, and English 102. Also one other for which I'm not recalling the exact name right now, but is basically multi-cultural studies (apparently required at Cascadia no matter what your degree).

Friday: I woke up Friday feeling sick as a dog. I spent most of the day in bed, only rolling out for the occasional trip to the restroom and the occasional meal. I had no ability to get dressed and leave the house so I was happy to find a blueberry muffin mix in the cupboard and some chamomile tea. It is likely had we not had these things I would have just gone back to bed without eating anything. Luckily, I woke up Saturday morning to find that my wonderful husband had made me breakfast in bed. I was feeling much better today. Joe and I spent much of the day cuddled up on the couch drinking tea and watching Red Dwarf seasons 1-3.

Now I'm going to get some sleep!
