Having a computer again is a little underwhelming. I've checked my e-mails. I've checked my social networking sites. I'm not entirely sure how I ever spent hours online. I'm sure that it'll manage to come back to me (good thing or a bad thing?), but this has been a "valuable lesson" in... something important that I can't articulate at the moment due to jet lag. My body says that it's about 40 minutes until midnight right now.
Amsterdam is still wonderful. The last few weeks have been busy, between haunting the computer lab to work on final papers, saying goodbye to friends who aren't staying the second semester, and celebrating Sinterklaas, advent and the end of the school year.
It's nice to be back in Atlanta but a bit of a culture shock. I couldn't remember what the English name for koffie verkeerd was (it's cafe au lait), was shocked by the size of the small coffee, and then was disappointed that it didn't taste like Dutch coffee. I also tried to address a waitress in Dutch, and I keep calling chicken "kip." Plus, driving again is just weird. Not that I'm missing my bike much, considering I could barely use it the last few months due to technical problems.
It's nice (and more than a little scary) that the weather is so warm, though. And I look forward to seeing the sun again once the rain stops here.
