I wrote this story for an exchange, and I love it, far more than you're supposed to love your own stuff. In a 'kill your babies' sort of way (as in, you should consider cutting any part of your story that you really love, just in case that comment alarms anyone

I think they were just lying low, because Lily refers to Harry's birthday present in the letter, and we know from PoA that the FC was only carried out a week before Halloween.

I always thought the masks were white. I think it even says so in the bit in HPatGoF during the attack at the World Cup.

I could be wrong, though.

Oh, cool! The movies aren't consistent, which has only added to my confusion. :)

I used to think they were black, but only in a 'because black=evil' sort of way. I may stick with white.

That love is truly most justified! I know what you mean, though, I feel much the same with mine, and am wondering whether that's entirely normal.

No idea on the masks, I'm afraid, and I'm with Shaggy on the Fidelius thing.

JKR can't possibly have written four books featuring Death Eaters without specifying the colour of her masks, can she? Except that I am beginning to suspect that she has.

I agree with the whole Fidelius charm thing... they were probably lying low, but not under the FC yet. I actually think the FC was cast only a few days before it all hit the fan.

As for the masks... hmmm... I think I was under the impression they were white, but I'm not sure about that. I'd have to look at the books again.

I just found out you were the author of that story (I should have known your name would pop out among my favourites from the exchange!)

And I know how you feel. I'm toying with the idea of updating my fic as well (and now knowing that my main character is going to be dead!) and I did love the parts that already exist.

I'm not sure about the masks - I can't seem to find a reference either. Sorry I can't be of more help. I'm reasonably certain that they're not under Fidelius either, because they only went under that a week before they were killed.
