Into the Good Night (Albus, Severus) - commentary

Commentary for Into the Good Night, as requested by quietlibanEmotionally, this story is my favourite of my own writing. I wrote it in the wake of HBP, and put all of my reactions (both emotional and rational) into it; technically it's not that accomplished - in fact, there's a lot I'd change - but I really let myself relax lyrically, and from that ( Read more... )

Oooh, loved this fic the first time I read it, and the commentary is awesome, too.

Thank you for sharing :)

You're welcome! I found myself a bit lost for things to say in the commentary, actually. Think I'm a bit too attached to this fic!

It was very interesting, apart from the fact that I don't do climbing.

VERTIGO. I can't think of another word when it comes to climbing; whatever climbing involves (the Eiffel Tower? a Medieaval caslte in Japan?), I run away in fear.

I did work a lot yesterday though it was Easter, too... *hugs*

Oh, that was beautiful. Truly lovely. I managed to miss this the first time round, so I'm really glad you did your commentary on it, or I wouldn't have read it.

The commentary was fascinating - I love that kind of thing - but I think you could have put even more in! I was wondering - was it a conscious decision to have Dumbledore call Voldemort "Tom" throughout? It just struck me while I was reading...

Oh, thanks - glad you liked it!

As I just said to comtesse_sin, I found this commentary quite hard to do - I think because I'm a bit too attached to this fic! But yes, in my mind, Dumbledore definitely calls Voldemort 'Tom'. In fact, that was one of the bits I squeed about when OotP first came out.

Oh, I'm glad that I finally had a chance to sit and read this.

Very interesting.

Glad you enjoyed - and sorry there wasn't a lot of commentary! I found this one pretty difficult, for some reason.

It wouldn't let me review the fic at that page so:

Oh, Albus.
His thoughts are perfect, the fading and the remembering.
And the last scene with Severus, the thought exchange between them is wonderful.

Thank you! You know, a lot of the guilt-inducing thoughts in that story I thought were self-induced...but after DH I think, yeah, he must've felt pretty guilty. So I'm glad it still worked for you after DH. And thanks for leaving late reviews - you're right, they're a lovely surprise :D.
