I was going to compile a recs post for my favourite HP_beholder stories and art, but realised that there were too many to fit into one post. So I'm going to take them a couple at a time and try and post every day or two.
I'll start with one that I beta-read, fell in love with and have been waiting to rec ever since:
Quite Some Time Since by
mindabbles, rated PG-13, just over 4,000 words. Summary: Have you ever wondered what might have happened if I'd asked you first?
Take one rare character (Augusta Longbottom), add a feisty Pomona Sprout, stir in some gentle femslash, and place against backdrop of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. There you have some of what makes this story so effective. I could add that the characterisation really shines in this story: Augusta is just the right blend of stubborn, reticent, honest and brave, and Pomona is a delight, especially the younger incarnation that we glimpse in Augusta's reminiscences. This is a lovely, quiet story, full of effective details.
While we're on femslash, take a look at
Stolen Moment by
tripperfunster (art, PG-13, Madam Pince/Professor McGonagall). Sexy HP ladies and sexy hair for the win!
