...then I might actually know what's causing these stupid headaches. Can someone explain migraines to me. *Ahem rachel*. I've been getting occasional annoying headaches on one side of my head around my eye area, but since doesn't hurt that much, i've never considered that they might be migraines until the my preceptor doctor mentioned it today.

Okay, I will say a couple things, and if you want me to expound on anything feel free to give me a call tomorrow. (Sorry I missed your IM.)
Migraines are generally caused by the rapid constriction and then um...de-striction..unconstriction...whatever of blood vessels in the skull. Causes include, um, Life. In general. Stress, tense muscles in your neck, various foodstuffs, etc. Migraines are normally on one side of the head or the other (sometimes both, and sometimes they'll switch sides). Some common (thought not universal) symptoms to check to confirm migraine vs. tension headache: slight numbness on one side of your face (the side of the headache, I think), nausea, sensitivity to light and/or sound.
Now, the one-sidedness of your headaches makes me think migraine, but the non-severity of the pain makes me think tension headache or simple eye strain.
A couple of helpful things I've discovered through my half-dozen-plus years of daily headaches:
With your head and neck supported, take your thumbs and press them just under the top of the bone under your eyebrows, just about in the middle. Push just under the bone and up. This is like an accupressure point, so push on or rub in circles for 20-30 seconds, rest, repeat, as you will. There's a ginormous nerve running right there, or so they tell me.
If you think the headaches are more tension-related, then some simple neck stretches could make a difference. Drop your ear to one shoulder, gently, roll forward and back up to the other ear, repeat as needed.
Anyway, I must sleep now, but I could write three books on all the stuff I've read about headaches in the last few years. Unfortunately, I'm still waiting for a doctor who can *truly* explain headaches to me. Sooo....
