it's too bad you have to *own* the land to do that.

Huh? Who said anything about owning land...?

to be able to do what the poem describes.. at least in america, there's no where i could think of that i could go at any time to just sit in the wild unless i owned it.

That's what public lands are for. The Gorge, Land Between the Lakes, Hocking Hills, even Boone Woods are nice for enjoying the wilderness.
