Confrontations
How do you handle confrontations?
Lyra paused, and remembered Jordan College, the place she had spent most of her young life. "If I disagree with someone, I fight them, and try to win." As a child, Lyra and her daemon had been in countless scuffles with other children and their daemons. Her daemon however, disagreed.
"You can't fight someone if they're stronger that you," Pantalaimon commented from her arms.
Lyra glared at the pine marten, "Shut up Pan." He did have a point though; As she matured, Lyra had begun to use the sheer force of her personality to win arguments, along with her natural talent for deception instead of physical force. These were more useful for winning arguments with people older and stronger than her, and far more effective than screaming and using her fists. Lyra wasn't cruel, but she was proud, and hated being humiliated. "Alright, maybe now I don't fight so much, and I just argue, glare, and lie, but still I try to win." That was true. Lyra never tried to see the opposite side of an argument- she was often too stubborn to admit when she was wrong.
