I am so looking forward to this summer. It will definitely not be as hectic as last summer because last time I checked I won't be getting married again this summer.
Stephen has bonused enough at work to pay off my care credit and my credit card which means $200-300 less in bills we would have to pay month to month, we have $10K in savings thanks to the stimulus package and we are going to focus on paying off Stephen's car this year in hopes of buying me a new one.
We also need to buy furniture for the new house. We need new study furniture as well as a formal kitchen table and informal kitchen table. Once we have those things I will feel much better about the current appearance of our house. Our house is gorgeous just very empty.
This summer we are going to wall-paper the kitchen and I am going to redo the bathroom. While the bathroom looks 500 times better than it did when we moved in I still hate the color we painted it. Once the bathroom is repainted I think I can do some amazing decorating things with it. Right now it is at a stand-still.
I found this GORGEOUS antique vatrien in downtown McKinney the other day for relatively cheap (and by relatively cheap, I mean $950). Right now there are other things that need to be purchased, but I don't know if I want to pass this piece up. It was built in England between 1890-1910 and the quality of craftsmanship and detail is something that can't be found these days (especially for less than $1K). Now all I have to do is drag Stephen to the antique shop and hope that he agrees with me. When I told him about it his response was "we already have a China Cabinet." I had plans of buying a bakers rack for the kitchen but wrought iron and glass bakers racks are usually $700+ and aren't all that special... while this piece of furniture is amazing. I guess we shall see what happens.
This summer I also want to read more books. I bought "Six Degrees" at half price books and Kerry gave me "Demon in the Freezer" from their stash of books they used to make students read over the years. So I would like to read those two in addition to "Oil" and "Slaughter House Five" (are you supposed to italicize or underline book titles? I forget...)
In addition to projects around the house and reading I need to get my APES curriculum perfected (can something like that ever be "perfect"). I also want to attend this week long workshop in Fairfield Texas that talks about coal mining, earth science and reclamation. Sounds fun. Yes, I am a nerd. It will also give me 40 hours of professional development for next year- w00t. AND its free (minus the drive there and back).
Oh oh, and I can't forget me and Stephens 1 year anniversary. We are thinking about going to Vegas for a few days if its not too expensive. Not like we couldn't afford to go, but we are weary of spending too much money on something totally not necessary =o)
At first we were thinking 5 days but now we are thinking maybe 3.. so we get the experience without spending waaaaay too much on hotels and what have you.
So, this summer is going to be busy but hopefully not as crazy as last summer. Now, if I can just get through this week (review Monday, quiz Tuesday, late start on Weds, test on Thursday, video Friday) and next week (holiday Monday.. review packet all week) then it will be exams (half days for 4 days!). This year has FLOWN buy and I can't wait to get to that point in the summer where I wake up and my feet down hurt =o)
