I love happy team fic! I like how you brought prior events and concerns of the series into this, from previous descriptions it sounded like it would be more of a straightforward discussion, exclusively about the film (this is much better). It feels very real how they get distracted by those tangents -- are you entirely serious? They don't know how the hyperdrive works? How can you fix something if you don't know how it works?

Unless Sam is like engineering and IT personnel: "Uh, maybe this will fix it? What does this do? What if I change this variable? Huzzah!"

Frankly, I prefer to know how my programs and processes are running, but ultimately if I can't... as long as it works, I don't care. =P

Yay, I finally got to read the story! I would have read it earlier, but there were textbooks to be read and class competitors to be conquered -- and the story is still here. Yay!

I'm glad I got to see Firefly before the film was released because I was left with the weight of realising WASH IS -- BOOK, NO!-- DEAD when the lights came up. No more Wash and Book :[

What's a '21C'? Two in command?

2IC = 2nd in Command.

I think, in this case, Sam is very much like us Engineers and IT gurus :) Theoretically speaking, FTL is impossible, and at this stage they still haven't made any great advances in theory (apart from wormhole theory, which may or may not be related to FTL), so I think it is reasonable to assume she isn't 100% sure how it works at this stage of the series.

Glad you liked it.
