Aww man. (And other random tidbits)

Well, I didn't get a part in the school play, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow...Jessica got the part Karly and I wanted, but it turns out that she can't do the play because volleyball practice interferes, so guess who got it? Karly, of course. They're both such good actresses. I knew they would beat me out, but that knowledge still didn't soften the blow of scanning the cast list for my name and not seeing it. I was walking through the halls before school while trying hard not to cry, although I couldn't handle it when I got to first period Algebra and people started asking me what was wrong. I broke down, albeit quietly. I know, I'm such a wimp. If I want to pursue a career in acting, I need to get used to it, but you know, I was really looking forward to this. I got over myself after half of first period. Oh well, on to other things.

I have done two writing assignments for English so far, and I really liked the results. The first one was a story that was supposed to be three to five paragraphs long...I kinda got carried away. Turned out to be six pages. It will be longer when I get the chance to add to it and post it on FictionPress. I figured out that if I am interested in what I'm writing, it can be a lot of fun! This was the prompt (more or less): "Write a story about a door that no one has been through for five hundred years. Describe what the door looks like, how you found it, and what is behind it. You choose the ending." I will give the link for anyone who is interested when I post it.

The second assignment was very interesting. We read a poem about basketball called "Shooting Baskets," by Christopher Bursk. It was a fairly long poem, with some great words in it. So, we had to write out own poem, using ONLY words from this one. It had to be at least sixty words long, and we could only repeat a word if it was repeated in the poem. It took me a few tries to get it the way I wanted it, but I did! Here is the link: http://www.fictionpress.com/s/2411697/1/

Homecoming is coming up! I have a date (no duh, I have a boyfriend) and spirit week is next week! I'm gonna go all out, even if I'm the only one because freshmen are lame.
Monday: Country Living Day. I have to go to Value Village and get a flannel and some overalls.
Tuesday: School Colors Day. I'm set.
Wednesday: Black Out/White Out Day. I'm doing black out. I don't have white pants.
Thursday: Girls Wear Pearls, Guys Wear Ties Day. I have to raid mom's closet for something fancy.
Friday: Class Color Day. Red all the way baby!
I get to go dress shopping on Sunday with Jess and Rachel. Although, I did find a dress I really liked online: http://www.prompartydress.com/party-dresses/j764amicaeveningdress-p-765.html in lavender. I know it's a little dressy, but I can dress it down with my accessories and hair.

Also, I transferred into NJROTC on Friday of last week, and I really like it. I got my uniform issued today, and the seemstress is coming in on Monday to hem and take in everything. I have to read my manual/handbooky thing to figure out how to put everything on. I am supply rep, so I'll be trained to do that eventually. Tonight I am ushering for Back To School Night, and since I don't have my uniform all ready, I'll just have to dress up nicely. Then on Saturday I am working at the car wash.

All in all, some very ecxiting developments in my life. Yay!
