Holy guacamole, it's been a while AGAIN. So this past weekend was Thanksgiving weekend, as you all know, and let me tell you, it was was FABULOUS!!! :-)
We left really early on Wednesday, around 11 am, then dropped Mel at LAX, got lost trying to get back to the freeway (Nicole knows about my problem... lol), then kept on driving. We hit NO traffic at all, and once I was reminded by Rach that I could use the carpool lane when we were already to the 5, it was smooth sailing. I dropped Chelsea off in Chula, then took Rach home, and then it was off to my house!
Wow, just for a lead in here, all I am going to say is "poodle." Yeah, thats right, the freakin' poodle started howling when I got home and I was greeted by tons of family, which was actually really nice. Other than the spastic and violet poodle attacks upon the men of my household and visitors over the weekend, the little excuse for a dog was alright I guess. He likes me! And doesnt bite me! Hahaha!
So Wednesday night Brian came over after work and we tried to hang out at my house, even though there were swarms of people everywhere. We watched Lost, SO GOOD, and then I think we watched a movie....oh, War of the Worlds! I've seen it twice, own it, and it still freaks me out. Go figure, a girl who has been watching x-files and horror films since she was in 2nd grade gets freaked out by a Tom Cruise movie? Yeah, I know...shut up.
Alright, on to Thursday. THANKSGIVING! TURKEY DAY! What have you. It was magnificent. Brian and his family joined us, along with my Aunt and Uncle, Uncle's parents, and Uncle's sister, which gave us a total of 17 people! Whoa baby :-) I am always in charge of setting the table on holidays, but this year I got to set 2! I LOVE setting a gorgeous table with my mom's china and silver. Gah, it may be my favorite part of the holidays. It always ends up looking like it fell out of a magazine, yay! :-) Brian was laughing at me though because I am pretty anal about how I want it to look, and I have a certain order and way of doing it after 20 years. He called me Mrs. Vesseley, so all you VHS kids will know what I'm talking about. The whole holiday turned out very well, and I think we all ate our weight in turkey and pie. YUMMY!
Friday, Brian had to work :(, but I got to hang out with my family. My mom, sister, aunt and I all went to see Pride and Prejudice, and OMG!!! Jane Austen is my favorite author, and Pride and Prejudice happens to be one of my favorite books of all time, so I went in with a very critical eye and was still blown away. Mr. Darcy was casted perfectly, and Elizabeth was awesome as well. Gah, the instensity of the movie reminded me so much of me feverishly rushing through the pages of the book to see if they finally got together in the end. *sigh* It was wonderful. HOWEVER, there was no shopping on Friday, which made me oh so sad. I had every intention of battling the sale-mongers to pay full price for the good stuff, but NO, no one wanted to go with me! And no, Target does not count as shopping. Otherwise, Friday was perfect, in every way possible. :-D Brian and I chilled at his place that night, which was also thrilling :-), and yeah, it was a goooooood day.
Haha, so Saturday. Prepare yourselves. Well, kinda maybe. Brian and I got up super early, and drove up to Julian to go to a store up there to get gifts for people. First of all, Julian is quite possibly my favorite place on the planet, and I want to live there more and more as I get older, so I was a happy camper. We left around 8am and got there at about 9am, but our store wasnt quite open yet. We went to Mom's pie shop and got apple cider and a pie to bring to the Gorman's in the desert, and mannnnnnn was is COLD in Julian! I mean, it was early, drizzling, and had it been a couple of degree colder, we would have had to be worrying about snow! I loved it though. So after we got our shopping done, we left for the desert to join the Gorman's and another family for the day. Although I was a little nervous at first, it was SO much fun. Those people are loaded to no end and have every toy in the book. Between the 2 families, we had 8 quads, 2 rhinos, 2 of the biggest 5th wheels I have ever seen, and over $700 in gas. Yeahhhh! Gary took me out in the rhino while the rest of the guys rode the quads, and he had a fabulous time scary the holy hell out of me. Razorbacks are fun, but wayyyy scary. :-) Basically, we just rode around in the dunes all day, ate, rode some more, ate, lol. They like to eat. OH, but one of the best parts of the day was watching the drags. Shoot, did you know that dune buggies are worth like $60k-$150k! Jeezus :-) They were beautiful though. I loved it! Brian had that little boy at Christmas face on all day, so I was quite a happy camper. Most literally! After we were sufficiently beat by the sand, we headed home to shower the sand off of us, but I still have some in my ears I thinK! :-) We also watched some Will Farrel movie that I cant remember the name of.
Sunday, we just chilled. Honestly, I know we did something, but I dont remember. All I remember is Halo 2, and eating Prime Rib. Gooooood night :-) And Grey's Anatomy!!!! Hilarious! :-P
I drove Chelsea and I back to LA Monday morning, which meant I woke up at 4:30 am (just not right) and got here at around 9ish. Class and work, and class and work, and class and work since then, while writing 2 papers that are due tomorrow at the same time.
Once I get past tonight and finish all my papers, (a 15 pager, and a 14 pager) I will be home free until next Friday when my Data Analysis is due and I have my last monkey exam.
I'm actually going home again this weekend to see my little sister's Winter Concert, and it's probably the last time I will see her perform unless she pursues it in college! :( Saturday, Brian has to work double time, WS and DJ thing, so hopefully I get to see him at some point that night, but otherwise, I am going Christmas shopping! YESSS! :-) I made a huge list, and I need to decrease prices for everyone otherwise I am going to be incredibly poor. PoorER I should say.
So yeah, enrollment at 11 am today, then papers, but I dont have to work tonight, so I am stoked. :-)
Until next time, take care kids. Much love!
