i learned something that truly sickened me today. when we gave blankets with smallpox to the native americans we knew there was smallpox on it. it was a bioweapon planted by us. i had always heard that it was like a mistake but today in my disease class i learned that it was no mere oversight but a purposeful attack on the native american people.

Also, according to the sources I'd seen on it, the incident actually occurred in Canada, not the US. Which is not to excuse the ten million fucked-up things the American government did by any means - it just clarifies that the "final solution" stuff extended beyond the United States.
In fact, it was the Canadian government that waged the most recent "shooting war" with its Native population - as recently as 1990. When the town of Oka in Quebec wanted to build a golf course on Mohawk land, the Mohawks resisted, things got nasty, and folks died on both sides before a settlement was reached.
And then, of course, we have the most toxic bioweapons of all: the Republican Party and arch-villian lobbyist Jack Abramoff. Good ol' Jackie showed that them Redskins still haven't learned the divide-and-conquer tactics from the White Man's playbook. Playing two tribes against one another in casino disputes, he collected fees from both sides and manipulated the local (Republican-dominated) governments to side with the highest bidder against the lowest. The memos in which he referred to his clients as "monkeys" and "savages" just made things worse. Fortunately, Jackie's going down for this one. Still, the fact that a prominent "christian" and major Republican fund-raiser (not to mention close friend of King George) could and did act this way within the last two years shows just how disrespected the Natives still are today.
