ThReAt at The Regent

Nov 13, 2009 23:59

Earlier this week I noticed that Threat would be playing at the Regent this weekend. I was excited about this and asked Ingrid if she wanted to go. Through out the day I also asked Duke and Chris if they wanted to go.

Actually for Chris I had mentioned that the band was playing but hadn't intended to ask him because I figured he wouldn't want to go again so soon. When I mentioned it he asked me if I wanted to go. I told him I was already working on getting some people together and he dropped the subject. I realized that he was originally saying he would go with me so I invited him later and he said yes. :)

I worked out that I would pick up Chris between 8 and 8:30. I called around 8:10 and ended up picking him up at 8:15. Chris asked if I could take him to get some cigarettes before we headed to the bar. I was fine with that because I hadn't called my sister yet and it was still early.

Just as we were leaving the store I called Ingrid to tell her I was on my way there. She said that Karen was on the way over and that they would meet me there. That was fine with me.

We headed over to the regent and found a parking spot right near the front. Chris wanted to have a cigarette before going in and the guy sitting out there talked to us. I didn't recognize him at first but it was the drummer for the band. We talked with him for a while and the other members of the band came out to talk with us.

I asked which one ran the My Space website and the bassist said it was him. Jeremy (one of the lead guitarists). I mentioned that I was the one that had asked if they were really playing this weekend and he talked about how he runs the site sort of. :)

The bassist also gave me the quote of the day, which I don't remember exactly how he said it so it's paraphrased here. He said "Most people play a guitar with 6 strings. I can do it in four." :)

We talked a bit about how the band got started and about how they broke up for a while until about 2 years ago and that things have been going well for them. With lots of shows.

It was getting close to time for them to start playing so we headed inside. It was also cold out so that was another good reason to head inside. Just inside the door Chris wasn't sure where to go so we headed to the bar in the back of the room. He ordered a Fat Tire and asked what I wanted. I let him decide what I was going to get because I am still not sure what I really want when I come to the bar. He suggested a Duck Fart shot. I was hoping for something that would last a little longer than a shot but it was ok to start.

I paid for the drinks and we headed toward the front so we could sit closer to the band. I would have picked the one in the rows of tables but Chris wanted to sit along the wall, which was fine.

I drank my shot a little while after we sat down. It was ok, a little too sweet I think. I don't know that I will try it again. Also Chris told me that if you switch the first two letters around you get the more accurate name for the shot (fuck dart). :)

The band started around 8:45 and we just sat and listened to the music. :) Around 9pm Chris said that my sisters were there. The band was playing three doors down Kryptonite too which is one of my favorite songs. Karen sat next to me and Ingrid walked up and sat down in the booth next to Chris. I have no idea why she did that but she kept whispering to him and then started taking pictures. Chris didn't know what to make of it either. I guess she was telling him jokes.

I the lady came back around to get drink orders when the girls showed up and I wasn't sure what to get next. Chris suggested the blowjob shot. I told him that I was looking for a slightly longer lasting drink. So he suggested Sex on the Beach. I got that and another Fat Tire for him.

All the drinks came at about the same time. Ingrid and Karen swapped sips of their drinks and when Ingrid tried Karen's Kamikaze she almost didn't stop drinking it. Karen wasn't very happy with this and had to quickly taken it from her. Then she asked what I had and I let her try it. I tired her's as well and decided that I would get a Kamikaze next. :)

When Ingrid took out her cell phone I took mine out and got pictures with it as well. Most of them turned out to be of Chris but that's because he kept doing things that demanded pictures.

I found out from Karen that Ingrid was already inebriated before they headed to the bar so it started to make sense why she was acting like she was. Karen also told me that she had finally found a place and was going to be moving in soon. She asked if I would mind holding on to the cats for a few weeks past that so that they could get settled in before she took them back. Of course I don't mind. I was more upset that she would actually be taking them back. I am going to miss them horribly. People tell me to keep them but I can't do that to her. I know how I would feel if I had someone watch my cats and they wouldn't give them back when I was able to take them back. :( so I am just really sad that they will be leaving.

Around this time I needed to use the bathroom and while I was in there my cell phone rang. The lady in the stall next to me said that it was probably my phone and she was thankful that it wasn't her's. #9_9# I promptly turned off the ringer after that.

I got back to the table and told Ingrid that she got a call from her house. She tried to call using my phone but apparently couldn't figure it out so she put it down and tried hers.

Chris asked to wear my earrings so I helped him put in my dangly silver ball earrings. We had talked previously about how dangly earrings can be fun to play with because you can feel them on your neck. Karen decided to contribute too and put her dangly star earrings in next to mine. :) Then I decided to go all out and asked the girls for any make up they might have. To my complete disappointment neither of them had any make up in their purses. Karen had some sparkly lip gloss and so I put that on Chris. Hehe.

Karen made some joke about not knowing where his lips had been and wiped off the lip gloss on a napkin. Chris made some comment back and Karen said "oh well then" and proceeded to put the lip gloss on herself. Hehe. I looked in Ingrid's bag for make up or something but only came up with a frilly apron and a scarf. We decided to have fun with it and put those on Chris instead. He was all up for it and rolled with it so I got some pictures of that too.

I realized around this time that we hadn't really been paying much attention to the band. O_o Ingrid decided to get up and dance around this time. I believe I had enough alcohol in me to feel like dancing too. Chris really liked that because he has been trying every time we got out to get me to dance on the dance floor. I am less likely if there are very few people out there but my sisters make me feel more comfortable about it when they are around for some reason so I am more likely to dance.

Ingrid by this time was getting over the top drunk and went up to the band asking if she could sing with them. I don't know if they actually gave her the go a head but she seemed to think they were going to be ok with it.

Ingrid managed to acquire the microphone from the band and started singing on stage…sort of. As we put it later she did three half songs and a mumble. :) Karen and I tried to coax her off the stage but she wasn't leaving. Caleb was getting upset at this and had wanted to leave for a while, this was only making it worse. Karen and I had also purchased shots of Jagger for us and Ingrid and we tried to get her to come down and get her's but she wouldn't move. Caleb eventually just went up and got her off the stage. The people in the crowd applauded her for singing though so it wasn't all bad. :)

Ingrid was definitely at the point of needing to go home after that so around 11pm they took off along with Karen. That left Chris and I there on our own. I wondered if he was going to want to head home soon too, but he didn't seem to want to leave yet and I was fine with that.

I figured that this was a good time for me to stop drinking so the Jagger shot was the last of the alcohol I had for the night. I continued to buy Chris Fat Tire whenever he wanted another though and he pitched in $20 for drinks at one point to help with the costs. When he did this I mentioned that I got my Child Support check recently so I was doing ok. He said that he still couldn't believe that I get so little. He apparently pays $400 for each kid and wishes he could pay more. I just told him that I would be happiest if I never had to hear from the SOB again and that the money is only extra. I do plan to increase the payments though, I just need to get the paper work done.

Just before the band went back to playing the bassist came by. He had visited with Chris on an earlier break and Chris was tyring to invite him to sit down this time too. He just said "I was over you 10 years ago" and walked on by. Hehe. Chris acted hurt by this and then mused that he realized it's been 14 years since he was in school. I told him it's been 17 for me. :)

After a while Chris got an invitation by one of the guys who had been bouncing around the bar to go play pool. He motioned to me that he was going to play pool and I misunderstood that he was asking me to play pool with him. *shrug* It didn't matter much because all I did was follow and in the end just watched him play. There wasn't much else for me to do there.

The guy playing pool with Chris was a drunk, asshole redneck… and I say that to be nice. He was a dick to his girlfriend when she came around and acting like every other asshole I have ever met. -_- He was also well past the inebriated stage. 9_9 That being said he didn't just win the game of pool he whopped Chris' ass! The guy had all but 2 of his balls in the pockets before Chris even got a first shot! According to the guy he plays better when he's sober. O_O Chris lost that game after a few more shots and they decided to go for a second game.

The guy kept running off somewhere and disappearing for a period of time. Each time we wondered if he was going to come back. Chris told me to rack the balls for the second game while he went out to smoke. Besides the fact that I wasn't sure exactly how to do that, I didn't have the quarters for the second game and needed them to accomplish that task. I just sat there and waited until he came back. He asked if I had any quarters and just as I put them in the machine the other guy came running up with quarters. It was too late and I didn't care that much. Chris ran through with me how to rack the balls and in true fashion was being strict about it. I had to re set them at one point because they weren't lined up exactly right. I think some people take that game ENTIRELY too seriously for a bar, but I digress…

The girlfriend of the redneck guy kept coming up to him and bugging him about not spending time with her. She was not good looking at all and wearing this dress with a top to it that barely kept her clothed
They eventually accomplished their second game of pool but it took a lot longer than the first one. Both were drunk and it made it hard for them to keep the game going. I guess that the redneck guy won both games in the end but Chris maintained that he should have counted it as a loss because he scratched on the 8 ball. *shrug*

I did find it funny that this red neck guy came up to me and asked me what my name was. I was about to fake name him when he said "Suzanne?" I just went with it and was Suzanne for the night. Hehe.

It was fast approaching 1am by this time and while I was sitting watching the pool table at one point, Tony Parker from the band walked by. I made a point of telling him that they were doing a good job of playing that evening and that I had enjoyed it. He thanked us for coming. ^_^

When Chris came back he asked if I wanted to go home soon. I just said yes. I headed to the restroom first though and waited out in the bar area for him when I was done.

We headed out at 1:15am and the band was still playing as we left.
