I am SERIOUSLY tired of paying for towing charges. :(

So I got up this morning and used Bo's car to drive to the lake to walk. When I got back I got ready for the day and got my son up to help me jump start my car (with Bo's) to take it to Les Schwab. It's a good thing I got moving earlier than normal for everything because 20 minutes later the car still hadn't started. I was absolutely certain it was the alternator.

If I knew anyone with a truck (That doesn't live 300 miles away) I would have called them in to help. Instead I gave up and drove Bo's car to work. I called Les Schwab and asked if they did alternator work (I knew the answer but wanted to be 100% sure). Since there were only two places I could pay for any kind of auto service right about now my choices were limited.

So I broke down and called Jacobson's to pick up my car and tow it to the shop. I met them at my house at lunchtime. They called me back an hour and a half later to say they were sure it was just the battery. By 3pm they were certain and had replaced it to the cost of $234. Yeah a good chunk of that is the towing charge. -_- Worst of all I didn't want a battery from them but what do I do once it's there? It would have cost me an extra $26 to get one from Les Schwab and have them install it (something about a service fee for installing parts that aren't theirs. -_-).

So my car is running again and I am wishing more than ever that I knew someone who could have helped me avoid the towing charge. Hell I would have pushed it to Les Schwab (two blocks away) if there weren't hills and a major thoroughfare to contend with.

I guess it's better than the $364 a new alternator would have cost. #_# I can definitely say that I am tired of paying for car repairs this winter.
