I got up this morning to go running as usual and could tell from the sound outside that it wasn't going to be fun. I didn't know how right I would be. -_-
I didn't get 100 feet from my car before my shoes were soaked. That was solely from the rain coming down too. I even had an umbrella. -_- I vowed to complete my walk anyway and it didn't get better. I was essentially walking in swimming pools when I got back to the car. Best of all both the walkways under the bridge and the new path they constructed this year are very good at holding water. It made a bad situation worse. I like the new path even less now because they took out the sidewalk so there is no other alternate path. You have to walk through the water to get around that side of the lake. -_-
The rain let up some later in the day but as pictures I took around 4pm show, the water level rose considerably anyway. The walkways under the bridge were under water by the time I came back.
I think the most stunning images of the lake are the docks that are now under water (pictures forthcoming). These are usually a good 2 feet above the water line and they are covered in water. St Martin's Dock is where the 4th of July Festival bands play and the others are mainly for fishing.
The water level is definitely high and other places are having it worse than we are but still it's the highest I have seen in over 10 years.
EDIT:
Here are a series of photos I took of the surrounding area. I have more but these are all I posted for now.
Flood 2009 Enjoy!
