Today I was up at 8am. I didn't really do anything today to get ready or do the things I should have. I didn't walk like I should have and I wasn't really motivated to do much of anything right away. It was WAY too hot in the bedroom (because the temperature outside reached 103 yesterday and even though it cools off at night adding two people to the room eventually keeps the room heated. -_-)
So around the time I finally had enough of the room I moved out to the couch to rest for a while. Tiger saw me as an opportunity and joined me by sleeping on my stomach. ^_^ About 5 minutes later PJ headed out the door for an 8am meeting at Arby's. :D
Around 8:35 I was up again. This time I got up for sure and asked my daughter if she wanted to go swimming with me. She was up for it so we got ready and went swimming. I didn't do as much exercise but it was still swimming and we didn't get out until 10:30.
Once out of the pool I showered and got ready for the day. I was really kind of lackadaisical about the day and took my time getting ready. By noon I was completely ready. ^_^
Gifts
I decided that it would be a good time to write out some journal entry summaries (because I didn't want to spend time actually writing entries) and working a little on the database project for Molly. That didn't last long and so I decided to work on figuring out my new pocket picture frame instead.
I got everything loaded onto my laptop and went looking for pictures only to discover that I have virtually nothing on my laptop. -_- Just to test it out I ended up putting three pieces of artwork on the photo frame instead. ^_^
Visiting With Debby
Around 12:57 Debby called to say she would be in town about an hour from then. I told her to just come on over. I spent the rest of the next hour on summaries and watching TV.
Debby arrived around 2pm and after talking for a while we decided to go to lunch at Subway. We left around 3pm.
We talked for quite a while. At some point my son started getting upset with all the snarky replies Debby kept throwing at him. I mean I do that to him all the time but Debby is better and faster at it than I am. ^_^ He was clearly traumatized to the point of not wanting to talk to her anymore until he could come up with good replies. Hehe. After more discussion and more replies my son finally gave up and decided he wanted to go to the game store instead. My daughter was close behind him. I think by that time even James had vacated the Subway. I wasn't in too big of a hurry to leave because it was air conditioned in there. ^_^
Eventually Debby and I did follow them though. James was standing outside between the game store and Subway. My kids were in the game store milling over items they couldn't buy. I noticed that Travis (PJs friend) was working and figured that was part of why they stayed so long. I noticed that there was a One Piece game for the Wii and briefly considered picking it up. However, since I haven't even played the last one I bought I decided against it (never any time for me on any of the game systems anyway.) :(
After the game store we stood outside in the shade and talked for a while longer. My son was again stumped in to near (and I men NEAR) silence by Debby's constant replies to him. It was as entertaining to me as a TV might be to most people. ^_^
We stood outside talking until 5pm. That was about the time that Debby decided it was time to start heading home. I was sad to see her go but knew that I needed to get home too. I always enjoy visiting with her and wish we could get together more often. I will have to make sure I work something out before next August this time. ^_^
Back to the Store
I wasn't home for long before and my mom was already pulling me out the door for a quick trip to Wal Mart to pick up more food for dinner. Apparently my dad wanted to go to a movie in at 7:15 so we didn't have much time. I grudgingly headed out to the store with my mom for yet one more trip. :)
We got our items (including more water for me) and we headed back to the house. We made it back with half an hour to spare (which is good for my mom in a store). Hehe
They left close to 7:15 and I decided that since dinner wouldn't be until really late now I would just sit in the living room and read. It was nice because I could keep everyone from using the TV (they were all busy with games anyway). I spent the time reading Twilight. I am really enjoying the book. ^_^ I also kept cool with a cold wet cloth and my fan.
My parents returned home somewhere around 9pm and I suddenly realized that I probably should have started the batter earlier. It worked out ok, though, because I was able to get it made in a short amount of time.
Dinner
It was still hot out and I brought a chair and my 12” fan into the kitchen to help out. I know that the sweltering heat from the griddle can sap all my energy really quickly if not under control. Thankfully I also had some near frozen water to sip on.
Around 9:30 I finally finished the prep and started on dinner. It went fairly quickly and I was actually happy for that. It still took two hours to make everything and I was tired by the time I was done. I had successfully stayed cool but not 100% and I was exhausted. Thankfully everyone was happy with their food so it was a good success. ^_^
After dinner and putting what I could away I decided it was the PERFECT time to go swimming. I quickly put on my swimsuit and headed out to the pool for a close to midnight swim to cool off and feel better. The pool wasn't cold but it was cool and it felt SO good! I even got my brother and kids to join me. ^_^
After my swim I got ready for and headed to bed.
