Summary: With some convincing of his friends, Jongwoon buys himself a robot, but was that really the best decision as of yet?
A/N: Long overdue chapter for my collab with superpandagirl  ;___;

One week later, Jongwoon is about used to this new ‘life’ in his apartment. From morning till evening the robot cleans things, rearranges furniture and takes care of his apartment. By the time he comes home from his last day of work that week, his apartment looks as good as new, with no sign left of the mess it was mere days before.

In honour of his clean apartment and filled fridge - apparently his robot also knows exactly where to go grocery shopping - he decides to invite his friends for a movie night or something cheesy like that. Ryeowook gladly accepts when Jongwoon calls him up, probably more than happy to see Jongwoon trying to live life again instead of sulking over a bad break-up, but Kyuhyun is less interested, making some comments about how he would have to give up a good evening for that.

In the end, both of them come anyway - Jongwoon thinks Ryeowook must have convinced Kyuhyun behind his back - and so he prepares everything for their arrival. Or better; he tells the robot to do so. At eight that evening, a nice dinner is prepared, there’s snacks and a few bottles of soju in the fridge, and a set of DVDs on the coffee table.

He pours himself a glass of soju whilst waiting for Ryeowook and Kyuhyun to arrive, and settles down on the couch. He takes a glance at his very clean house and imagines Ryeowook’s reaction at the lack of mess. It will be good to see.

Five minutes later, he hears his doorbell ring, and gets up to answer it. The robot hears it too, and moves swiftly towards the door, only to be stopped by Jongwoon, who shoos it back into the study. It retreats dutifully, and Jongwoon answers the door as soon as it is out of sight.

“Hi hyung!” Ryeowook greets, and hands Jongwoon a six pack of beer. “Here, I bought this, since you never seem to have enough of it.”

Kyuhyun merely nods, steps out of his shoes and goes straight to the couch, on which he flops himself and starts channel-surfing. Jongwoon frowns at him, but shrugs it off as typical Kyuhyun behaviour. Instead, he grins at the six pack and thinks of the chilled bottles of soju in the fridge.

Ryeowook will find out eventually, he thinks, so he will just go with the flow now. “Thanks, Ryeowook-ah.” He says, and goes to the kitchen to place it in his nearly full fridge. When he goes back out to the hallway, he finds Ryeowook standing, mouth agape, at, well, everything.

“You cleaned your house.” He says softly, turning to look at Jongwoon like a proud mother. He gives Jongwoon a tight hug round his middle, and lets go after a few seconds. “I’m so proud of you!” He practically skips into Jongwoon’s room to see the extent of the cleanliness. When he comes out he turns to go into the study, but Jongwoon manages to stop him in time.

“Oh come on, stop exploring, Wookie, let’s eat.” He says, and drags him out to the dining room, where the table is already set for three. Ryeowook takes one look at the table and looks like he is about to burst into tears, his eyes shining with pride. Jongwoon tries hard not to look at him, or else he will burst into fits of laughter and blow his cover. Instead, he sits Ryeowook down and goes back to the living room to peel Kyuhyun away from the television.

Jongwoon finds it difficult not to laugh when Ryeowook tries out every dish that is laid out on the table and showers him with compliments. Even Kyuhyun seems mildly surprised, which was rare and definitely an achievement from Jongwoon.

“Dude, are you sure you didn’t buy this?” Kyuhyun asks, his voice dripping with snark as he digs into his second helping of kimchi jeon.

“It’s obviously homemade. If you’re Korean you’d be able to tell homemade kimchi jeon from store-made ones.” Jongwoon shoots back and grins. Kyuhyun rolls his eyes and stuffs the jeon into his mouth.

“Oh Jongwoon hyung, did you take the whole day to make all this?” Ryeowook almost coos, as he nibbles on a piece of pajeon. Jongwoon takes a swing of soju to stop himself from laughing, and shakes his head.

“Not really. I started at around 2 I think?” He lies. If his life were a manga, Ryeowook would be having those large sparkly eyes, he thinks, as he watches Ryeowook try the ddeokbokki.

“Oh hyung, this is really, really, really good.” Ryeowook compliments, closing his eyes and nodding as though savouring the taste.

“Thanks Wookie.” Jongwoon replies, his voice sounding choked due to all the pent-up laughter. Kyuhyun shoots him a suspicious look, and Jongwoon ignores it.

“By the way, hyung, where did you get the recipes for all these?” Ryeowook asks suddenly.

Jongwoon blinks and tries to think of something. The internet? But Ryeowook would want to know which site he had gotten it from. So he settles for: “Uh, my mother.”

Ryeowook brightens. “Oh then I shall get all these recipes from her!” He chirps, and takes out his phone to text Jongwoon’s mother.

Jongwoon mentally facepalms. He had forgotten that Ryeowook was extremely close to his mother since the two of them had been friends since, well, forever. His face twitches, and Kyuhyun catches it.

“You got a robot, didn’t you?” Kyuhyun asks, smirking.

Jongwoon did not expect Kyuhyun to realise so quickly. But well, he’s not going to come clean now. That would just spoil the fun. “You just can’t believe that I did all this, can you?” He shoots back. Score one for Kim Jongwoon, he thinks.

“Yeah. It’s way beyond your mental and physical capacity, Jongwoon.” Kyuhyun retorts.

Jongwoon sputters at the statement as well as the blatant lack of honorifics. “You’re one heck of a rude dongsaeng, do you know that, Cho Kyuhyun?” He scolds. Kyuhyun simply laughs. Ryeowook looks confused, and casting questioning glances at both of them.

“Hey robot, come and clear the table.” Kyuhyun calls casually, leaning back against his chair while staring straight at Jongwoon with a bemused expression. To Jongwoon’s surprise, the robot comes immediately, its long, dark brown hair bouncing with every step it takes.

“Your taste isn’t bad.” Kyuhyun says, letting out a low whistle. Jongwoon sputters again, and decides to ignore that statement and instead, take it as a compliment. He hears a clang on this right, and turns sharply to see that Ryeowook has dropped his chopsticks in shock.

“...Ryeowook?” He threads carefully, hoping that Ryeowook will not either cry and walk out of his apartment, or yell at him for lying. Ryeowook is staring at the robot, his eyes wide and his mouth slightly agape. Jongwoon realises that he might be getting both reactions, one after another. He turns to Kyuhyun for some moral support, but instead recieves a smirk and a slight shrug of his shoulders that obviously says ‘This is your mess, not mine.’

“Jongwoon..” Ryeowook manages to stammer, making said person turn to him again. “This.. You..” For a moment they sit there in tense silence as Ryeowook stares at the robot, but then he turns to his hyung, picking up the forgotten chopsticks and pointing them at the robot. “Either you are completely insane or you reconciled with your ex girlfriend.” he then says. “Judging from the way she left you when she broke up, I’d say it’s the first. ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?”

Well, it’s safe to say even Kyuhyun didn’t expect that and the two are left staring at Ryeowook, mouth slightly agape. Ryeowook doesn’t seem to be done with yelling yet, but the robot interrupts him before he can continue.

“Master, was the food alright?” It asks with that lifeless voice he has grown used to. Jongwoon rolls his eyes and waves it off.

“The food was good. How many times do I have to tell you to stop calling me master? And don’t listen to anyone else but me! I’m your owner, not this insolent brat!” He complains, making Kyuhyun smirk and Ryeowook huff.

“Yes master.” The robot agrees once again and he sighs, giving up on trying to get it to stop saying that. He waits until it has taken the plates and brought those to the kitchen before turning to his friends again.

“Jongwoon!” Ryeowook then starts, his tone already scolding. “How can you shape it like your ex girlfriend? That’s like showing the whole world how much you’re still not over her! Don’t you ever listen when I talk to you?” He huffs, then gets up from his chair. “Well anyway, at least you have a clean apartment now. Let’s go watch a movie now. You’re done eating, right, Kyuhyun-ah?”

He gives Jongwoon no other look as he walks to the couch. Kyuhyun does send him a smirk, but he can only be happy that Ryeowook at least did not eat him or something like that.

They spend the rest of the evening on the couch in front of the television, watching a select few movies while the robot cleans up the table and does the dishes.
