Gah. My dietary habits are kind of disgusting to me right now, and I've decided I've got to try to fix that before August, when I start student teaching. I just printed off a customized food pyramid, and I think I'm going to go buy a scale this week because it's been years since I had access to one. The UDSA guide says that I need to watch my weight while on the plan because I could gain or lose, depending on the other factors. As I'm not exercising right now, I think I might be gaining weight when I start this program, so it's kind of important that I check my weight. Of course, running around the Tavern might also cause me to lose weight, too.
My biggest problem right now? Ben and Jerry's. By far. I've been eating about a half a pint a day, and that's probably not good for me, considering there's about 600 calories in each half pint. Even the reduced fat Phish Food has 210 calories per serving. Half a pint is two servings. I can't be doing this and stay healthy.
I found out that a summer Wellness Center membership is only $55. Unfortunately, that's probably not something I can afford until business starts to pick up at the Tavern. I'm trying to manage my money better, but it's still going to be tough this summer, especially knowing how much all the student teaching stuff is going to cost this fall, and with the knowledge that I may not be able to have a job while I'm working for free at Central.
Needing to eat healthy and the desire to save money means I'm going to have to start choosing treats according to my goals. That means cheap treats that don't destroy my diet -- no more large pizzas when I'm home alone or anything like that. It's going to be hard, but the payoff (not needing to work this fall, and being healthier, which means not getting sick) is going to be worth it.
